- FRUSTRATED Warriors halfback Nathan Fien has become the latest target of big-spending English Super League clubs, with Huddersfield earmarking him as the man to fill the void left by troubled former Raiders half Todd Carney.
Fien's manager Jim Banaghan last night confirmed Huddersfield had tabled a big-money, three-year deal for the former Maroon, who played an instrumental role in New Zealand's historic World Cup victory over Australia last November.
"On the back of Todd Carney being refused a visa to play in England, we have received a very attractive offer from Huddersfield," Banaghan said.
"It is a good offer, so I will be discussing things with Nathan over the next 48 hours so we can make a decision on whether we will approach the Warriors about gaining a release from the final year of his contract with them."

| Fien is not a bad player, and although he played at half back in the World Cup, his first position is hooker. He used to share the hooking role with Gatis at the Warriors before we signed him. | |

| as a world cup winner, who has played all his teams test matches who does not have a drink problem he probably meets all the criteria to get a visa etc. It may take time but might not be too long | |

| true, but did they apply too late, you never know
I said yes to Fien as I watched him when we were after Gatis, ands would have preferred Fien, so we will have to wait and see

| from what Ive seen of him --Fein is fine by me!--no regrets ! The lad looks to have a brain -and class or not who could guarantee that anyone could keep Carney on the rails for a full season -especially if he`s "the New Kid in Town"?? no -might not be quite as sharp in some peoples eyes (Fein) but hes no slouch -and if hes level headed and reliably consistent that could redress the balance in his favour (for me at least!! | |

- The Warriors have added hooker Lewis Brown to next season's squad and will know within a week whether Nathan Fien will join Huddersfield in the UK Super League next year.
Brown, 21, was signed from the Wests Tigers on a one-year deal, plus the option of another year, with a view to adding depth to the hooking position.
The former New Zealand under-16 representative's chances of being involved in the NRL squad next season will improve with news Fien is in talks about joining Nathan Brown at Huddersfield next season.
Brown will be replaced as Dragons boss next year by Wayne Bennett and is said to be keen on 29-year-old Fien.
Fien, who played halfback against the Broncos last night, still has one year left on his Warriors contract but approached the club about an early release when he discovered he wasn't in their plans beyond 2009.
The Warriors have asked that a decision on Fien be made in the next week so they can plan with more surety for next season. So we should know within the week all being well.

| We've had the mucky end of the stick over the last few years as far as refereeing goes as we are not Leeds, Saints, WIGAN, so now we have some higher profile players and coach on board, the attraction of other decent players could gain us some credibility and that No 6 gap will be filled sooner rather than later. | |

| I think it might just be time we accept we are not going to be bringing anyone new in, unless we take a British based SO, and get behind Brown and Robbo to deliver the goods.
If the Carney deal had of fallen through earlier then we may well have been able to bring another NRL player here, but with the visa/wp situations as they are right now it's just not going to happen.
I still don't regret us letting Thorman go, we needed a fresh start and for me he represented too much of the Giants past. With Carney I honestly felt we could have been pushing for the top four, but even without him we have to make the playoffs and hopefully a Cup Final appearance. Carney is an exceptional talent, so we have lost out big time but we've just got to get on with it now.
