click hereThe Hunter Ports Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce the signing of New Zealand International David Fa’alogo on a one-year contract.
Fa’alogo, who has played 142 NRL games, will join his former New Zealand teammate Jeremy Smith at the Knights for the 2013 season.
After spending nine seasons playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the forward joined English Super League Club the Huddersfield Giants in 2010.
Coach Wayne Bennett is pleased Fa’alogo will return home and play out his rugby league career at the Knights.
“David is coming here on a one year contract, with an option for a second year if he performs in 2013,” Bennett said.
“He wanted to finish his career in Australia and at a Club that is going places; that is pretty much the conversation we had.
“He is coming here for the right reasons; he isn’t coming here for the money but he feels he owes a lot to rugby league and wanted to come and finish his career in Australia playing good footy.”
Bennett was enthusiastic to have Fa’alogo join the Club after three years in England following the successful return of Danny Buderus this year.
“I worked with David in 2008 at the World Cup Final and I liked what he brought to the team,” Bennett added.
“He has been overseas for three years, the same as Danny and we have all seen what he brought back.
“People who have played with or against David will tell you he is a good player and he is the type of player I like to coach; committed and you know they are going to get the job done.”
Fa’alogo will relocate to Newcastle and commence pre-season training with the team in November.
