- New Zealand World Cup winner David Fa’alogo jetted into England this week to take up his three-year contract with engage Super League Club of the Year, Huddersfield Giants.
The second row international forward met his teammates for the first time on Friday and is delighted to have arrived:
“This is obviously a massive move for my family and me and we’re really excited about it. Although we’ve never visited England before, playing in Super League has always been a goal of mine and it’s something my wife and myself spoke about when I was playing in the Australian NRL. I’ve always fancied testing myself here, whilst experiencing a totally different culture at the same time, and this seemed the ideal time to make that move.”
“From what I’ve seen from watching Super League, it does look a very exciting brand of footy. I’m sure it’ll take me a little while to get used to it, but I definitely believe I’ve got the game to adapt to it.
And the powerhouse forward is looking to benefit the Giants squad both on and off the field.
“I can bring some aggression and power into the pack but also some experience for the younger players who are coming through the ranks.”
After undergoing minor knee and ankle operations, Fa’alogo will be in rehab for the first part of off-season training but is looking forward to getting started:
“I am in rehab at the moment but I can’t wait to get back into training and making sure I am 100% fit for the start of the season.
The 29 year old knows several players from the club’s New Zealand International contingent and admits that Nathan Brown was key to him becoming a Giant:
“Nathan being the coach was a very big factor in deciding to come to Huddersfield. He did a good job at St George in the NRL, and is doing a great job at the Giants. He’s clearly got a great future ahead of him, and it’s going to be a fantastic experience learning off him. I know some of the Kiwi boys through the International games and I’m excited about meeting the rest of the players as well.” LINK

| He's one player I won't be shaking hands with just in case he squeezes that little bit too hard. The man's a beast.
Can't wait to see him in action.
