But saying that i do believe we should be working alongside the football club and trying to convince some of the 16000 that turned up to watch third tier football last friday that there is more than one club in Huddersfield and it should be made affordable to watch both.
I suggest a tie in with the football club and for the next round of the CC all those that turn up to towns last home game get an entry discount voucher If fartown perform well in that game the footie fans might carry on coming (granted probably only while there is no football).
Just an idea Think it's a really good idea Clock face pack as many in as we can against Wire, create a fantastic atmosphere for Balding to chew over on BBC. But ATEOTD until we actually go out and win the cup we don't know if all the glory hunters will come flooding back. It's overdue, it's long overdue and the Sleeping Giant must be woken.

- Think you are right in what you are saying in the above ^ Bo.I first started going to Fartown late 70's,there was precious little interest in the club in the town.It got worse not better during the 80's,just the hard core of loyal fans numbering in the few hundred.
The soccer club after setting up in 1908 soon became a leading light in that code, won some trophies became quite famous so RL had a serious competitor that floating sports fans could turn to.There's a rivalry between the codes now like it or not.Unlike in Hull,Wigan and Leeds (for many years) where soccer just limped along.
One encouraging sign to me now as I move around the area is seeing all the young kids walking around in their replica Fartown shirts, plus older teens in the streets passing a rugby league ball between themselves, something you would never have seen anywhere up until maybe as recent as the last 5 or 6 years.
Ken Davy has done wonders to regenerate interest for the game in this town but it's been a long and hard road back,as I'm sure he would be the first to acknowledge.Basically RL was no longer in the blood of many,it was a game as alien to many as say hockey or basketball because as you say generations had been missed. They are doing the right thing by targeting the youngsters with free passes etc.
Ken D as we know is no longer a young man, there is a concern now about who will come forward to carry on his mantle, and keep the interest moving forward and not see all the great work go to waste once more. That is a great post, I would say it sums up the situation to a tee, Only just seen it ,or i would hace responded earlier.

| just reread my post and apologies are owed to Bo if i came across as ratty as it really honestly was not my intention.
Living in St Helens and working in Haydock (large amount of Wigan fans)i tend to get a lot of stick mostly about not having fans so this is a subject that tends to touch a nerve and for that again i apologise.
While its true that enticing the football fans is going to be extremely difficult i think that (and i cannot be certain on this) the Rhino's crowds have increased with success while the football teams crowds have dropped with there drop down the league.
Now i'm not saying that we could entice the football crowd away permenantly but a successful run and as i said maybe some sort of voucher given at the last football match of the season could it be possible to draw 10% (1600) extra people in to cheer us on against the wire thus making the ground look just that little bit fuller on the BBC come match day

| No Fa'alogo is a huge blow. One of the squad rotation forwards now you feel is going to have to step up and have a big game if we are to get over the top of Warrington.
I still have a concern over the 'hooking' role.Such a specialist position, requiring more than just passes and scoots. Not Robinsons natural position, still feeling his way in the role.Drewy is the man but after his long lay off a bit unfair to expect him to be completely back on top of his game.

- Huddersfield Giants coach Nathan Brown has sprung a surprise by naming captain Brett Hodgson in his initial squad for Saturday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie against Warrington Wolves - the club he has agreed to join next season.
The Australian full-back and reigning Engage Super League Man of Steel was ruled out for a month with a thigh injury but has missed only two matches.
And Warrington coach Tony Smith has had his players preparing to face a Huddersfield side with and without Hodgson in it.
The former Wests Tigers skipper has signed a two-year contract with the Wolves from 2011 after Huddersfield were prepared to offer him only a 12-month extension to his current deal, which runs out in October.
