Player of the Year Empty
PostSubject: Player of the Year   Player of the Year EmptyTue Aug 12, 2008 7:51 pm

Since we can have our say this year, these are my initial nominations:

Chris Thorman: playing out of position, performing adequately, copping tons of abuse yet stayed at the club & kept playing to the best of his abilities, regained his SO berth and has been a revelation.

Stephen Wild: Mr Consistency.

Darrell Griffin: running his weight.

Paul Jackson: another Mr Consistency.

Stephen Lawrence: took his opportunity & built on it.

Ryan Hudson: plays with his heart on his sleeve in every match.

Andy Raleigh: runs hard, defends well, and excellent season.

I've somehow got to narrow this down to 1!

What is your list or, even, choice?

[Yes, I know, I posted this over there as well!]

Allowing for the fact that i have not seen as many games this year as i normally do, so dont really feel qualified to say, but for me Thorman for all the reasons Ivor has stated, closely followed by Hudson.

Andy Raleigh
He has not missed a game all season, can play 80 minutes at prop second row and loose forward, regularly tops the tackle count and as well as all that he is a Huddersfiled lad.
If Tony Smith hasn't got his blinkers on andy should be a shoe in for the GB squad.

You see I always knew I was right, others think the same as me.

Raleigh is being backed for future international recognition.

Andy Raleigh has been a consistent performer, but he has conceded too many penalties which give our opponents too much field position.
Cudjoe and Lawrence have improved well over the season.
Aspy and Hodgy have not had enough game time to come into contention but I think they would have had a say if they had.
Brown does a pretty good job and underrated.
Robinson, not everybody`s cup of tea, but I like him.
Crabtree, bit in and out form wise early on, but upped the work rate in last few weeks.
Thorman a lot better now in his old position and would have had my vote if he had been there all season.
Griffin a good grafter and a few MOM from my view.
Hudson good season sound performer.
Jackson same as Hudson.
Wild underperformed I believe, and lost a bit of pace.
Snitch a poor season compared to the previous one.
Jones an unsung character gets through a lot of graft.
But for consistency, taking into consideration the various partners he has had through the season my vote would go to Whatawira overall.
Not by a lot but I think he just shades it.

Glad you corrected that earlier spelling error ['hits'].

Would have been too derogatory to epileptics had you not realised your mistake.

Consequently I do not need to get into my pedantic mode again.

The most consistent performer throughout the year.
