vs Catalans

I was lucky enough to see the first half today, over the Internet. But only the first half as it was during my lunch break (an 8 pm KO is 12 noon here). I thought that it was a bit scrappy. We looked much better than Catalans, but gifted them too much with petty mistakes. Worth the lead but it should have been more.

From the final score it seems like the second half was much better. Anderson must have read them the riot act. Pity I missed it. Still there's the highlights to look forward to on Monday morning.

That I think should settle our place in the top 4. Catalans still in fifth place but now 8 points behind with 7 games to go. For them to overtake us now would mean us losing at least four games out of the remaining seven AND Catalans winning all of theirs AND Catalans pulling back a huge scoring disadvantage (Fartown are +260 and Catalans only +28). A lot has to go wrong for all that to happen.

But we could still get to be #1. Wigan's defeat to Cas tonight means that a Fartown win on August 9 might now put us on top. At least we can hope.

Now to stuff 'Ull.

   

Lets take it one game at a time, we beat cats, next is Hull. Second half was much better today. To hammer fifth in the league at this stage in the season sends a big message out to the other teams.

Catalans with a decent pack and halves of Dureau and Pryce won't roll over and die in the first 40 minutes of any game,they have to be worn down,yet these sort of comments above,poor first half from us ,were what I heard in pub after.Makes you shake your head but everyone has an opinion.

Yet another superb Fartown performance,I'm just knocked out by the way this team has been coached
by Ando & Purtill,just so efficient in all they do.

Some say we lack flair,but shut their gobs when their flair players drop off tackles and cost us a game.

I think people will regard the first half as poor because we let in some soft tries, which we did. Once we cut that out and as you say worn them down we were able to steam roller them in the second half.

I would also argue about the flair, we play as expansive as the other clubs when the time is right. Now Robbo has found his feet in the scrum half role we look lively and dangerous going towards either flank.

True,we go to the edges with fine style,but only after we have softened them up down the middle through first man plays,but always with a sweep pushing up in support,if so called fans cant see how effective we have been this time I despair.
