Has anyone heard anything about an extension to his contract at all, I know he has another year after this but the longer his contract the more difficult it is for some one to poach him, I keep getting this nagging unpleasant feeling that he is earmarked to be Wellens replacement ( hopefully wildly wrong ) but with NB's well documented rating of him and Wellens age it is certainly a possibility, It would be a bad blow and on top of farming out Lunt ( who may or may not come back ) and the bringing in of S Moore which i fail completely to understand ( being how he is not in Lunt's class) It would be enough to put me off buying another season ticket anyway, The club can't afford to loose such obvious talent whilst at the same time paying other players very big wages to spend half the season sat in the stand, ( for one unfortunate reason or another )
This may well all be rubbish ( and i hope it is ) But if Eden starts next season with just one year left on his contract that will be a very bad sign, and will not IMO be enough to keep him at the club, The future is in the young local players rather than the expensive imports who if they are unlucky can drain a lot of Salary cap off to sit in the stand, S Lunt was a bad move in my opinion and we now have a much poorer player, I am aware that Moore is still only young, It's just the point of it escapes me. That said if you are going to offload someone , even if temporarily , It has to be a player that someone wants and is prepared to pay.

I've not heard anything about Eden, but I did hear his current wage is pitiful. If that is true then he will want a massive wage hike, which could be something we simply can't afford at this time.

Well we have to find the money from somewhere Matt, To me if we are serious about joining the elite ( and we are getting there ) we need to keep players like him at all costs, We have a huge squad and yet when we save money on the likes of Lunt we bring in another player we could well do without, I bet N Brown isn't considering taking S Moore to saints, and yet he's brought him here, When N Brown goes next year it is absolutely vital that we continue to progress, any serious backward movement would IMO would have a very detrimental effect on the crowd, We need to keep our quality players, Reduce the squad size if that's what it takes.

Despite his dropped bomb on Friday he was superb again, I think we need to pull out all the stops to tie him up on a long deal. Worried about him going now, can't believe we have not sorted it yet!

Same here, he is a quality player. Noticed he was getting more responsibility as a play-maker against Wigan. He could become one of the best English full backs for many a year.

Compared to Billy Slater who's the best full back in the world who also made a howler in the origin match. It's a price you have to pay for someone with such flair and quality i guess.

Brett also made his fair share of mistakes, I remember one at Wembley that made Eden's look nearly nothing. Brett was still a hero and Eden has the makings of becoming a true Fartown hero.

100% agree with Bo, talks alot of sense but don't tell him.
A great 6 is a priority for me as is keeping the likes of Brough.

Quality stand offs don't grow on trees and the few that are around demand very high wages. We are improving on the developing talent side of things, hopefully sooner rather than later that world class half back will appear from the youth system.

Finch is available, Brown and Gilmour would have been on a fair wedge, 2 into 1 goes!!!!

I doubt we could tempt Finch. If he stays in the UK then can we tempt him away from Wigan, unless we offer him a massive wage which could limit us elsewhere? I think if he wants to leave Wigan it will be to return to the NRL. Although if we can pinch him from under Wigan's nose for a reasonable wage then great.

Missing piece of the jigsaw possibly and if it would get us that elusive silverware then may be worth breaking the bank.

We have other players on very high wages as well though Matt and they have not been great value, It's not that they are not good players, It's just they don't play half a season a year, and your high earners are the one's who should be doing the most to get you some silverware, that's why they are high earners, Unfortunately ours spend most of their time sat in the stand, That may seem harsh but it is how it is, and when you consider that we were top of the league or very close to top for the first half of the season without our two top payed men for much of the time , you begin to wonder just how good ( or poor ) value they have been.

This is nothing to do with the stand off discussion i know, but we have found heavy money for a fullback( got a cracker, and let him go) we have found big money for forwards and other positions but we never seem to get any nearer a class SO, Yes we were unlucky with Carney but we seemed to give up when that fell through. Flying Prop is dead right we need a class man in arguably the most important position on the field, K Brown has done OK with us and at times he has had some quality games, I don't want to knock the lad and i wish him well at Widnes, but we don't want a Centre, come SO, come loose forward, jack of all trades, we want a specialist Half back who can take on the line and above all who can create things.

It's just my opinion but we need to stop trying to to gloss over the lack of quality in parts of the team with quantity, It didn't work last season, and It's starting to fail again this season, Scot Grix's best position is fullback, If Eden is going to be fullback why keep Grix, Oh yes he can fill in at SO, so we have our most important position taken by a player who has lost his best position to someone else, All this business of playing players all over the place is no good, we saw how well it worked against Wigan, and i for one had a belly full of it under J Sharp.

I don't know who watched Wigan last night but that is the level we have to attain, not just now and then ( as we are well capable of doing) but week in week out, Wigan had a load of kids playing last night but you wouldn't have known it, And Tomkins is far and away the best player in Super league, I hope Eden is watching his style because he has the same sort of potential. Anyway rant over, surely we can but on some sort of show against Widnes, and well done Salford.

Told you he talked alot of sense :-).
Bo is right again, Wigan had at least 5 first team forwards missing however they had class players thru the spine of the team at Fullback, stand off, scrum half and loose forward. Look what they did to Leeds who played a loose forward at stand off and had no class at loose forward.
Lets save out big money for Greg, Danny, a world class stand off and a world class loose forward that is gonna play every game, LOD could be that man but he is no good sat up in the stands with us.

When you sign a player you have no idea if they are going to play every game or sit in the stands for the season. LOD was/is a quality back rower, before his injury last season he was awesome. Finch could be a great signing, but hardly set Wigan on fire when he first arrived. You just never know, but if the money is available and the so is the player then I agree we should go for it.

You are absolutely right Matt, LOD didn't ask for such a bad injury as he got, so you never know whats coming do you, On the other side of it we get players injuring themselves just running on to the field sometimes, It's almost like they are thoroughbred racehorses, cant play if they have stubbed a toe or bent a finger, We talk now about getting 2 good twenty minute spells out of a forward, or getting big minutes when a guy does 60 or 70, That's 60 or 70 minutes a week, I tell you my mind boggles, I guess i have watched the game to long.

We have had a half decent season up to the last month and we are still in the running, so if we can shake of our usual mid season shambles we could yet have a decent end to N Browns spell, No better place to start than today, Don't know about Cudjo playing SO, personally I'd drop him and play Murphy at centre, I presume we brought him to the club for some purpose other than to just trot on when Eden is not playing.
