| Don't know what to make of this, In a way i can see some sense in it, and another way I'm not sure, I would think he would be a lot cheaper than Brough and do exactly the same job until Mc Nally is ready to take the jersey, On the other hand he is 33 next i think, has openly stated he would prefer to stay at Saints so would he have the commitment at another club, Also would he want to come this side of the hill, as he has said wherever he goes it will be purely for the money, which in a way is the bottom line for all of them, so maybe his honesty is to be applauded, seem N Brown is interested anyway. | |

| He his the best British half back around, although he is also 32 and openly admitted he is only in a move for the money. I would need convincing that he would give us value for money. | |

| Get him signed, best if we could come to an arrangement to bring him here now given he wants 2 more years after this season. He is one of my all time top players. | |

| It would be an absolute disaster.
this is the man who walked out on a GB tour becuase he was tired.
He now wants a two year deal because he wants the money and is preparing for retirement. He has no heart left for the game other than playing for Saints and winning a trophy.
have you seen his goalkicking this season he is missing them in front of the sticks.
HE IS NOT INTERESTED.
HE WILL BE LESS INTERESTED IF HE CAME HERE.
It would be the first BACKWARD step made by the Giants in 4 seasons.
I would rather the money be spent on someone who is HUNGRY, or PROFESSIONAL enough to put in his best every wek. Menzies or Brett Hodgson are model pros who will always give 100%. Someone like Long is not what we need.

| The more I think about it, the more I agree he would be a mistake. If we'd signed him a year or two ago, then he would have been great, but by wanting two years I think he would be a passenger by the end. | |

| Signing Long would not just be about performances on the pitch, but also about raising our profile (much like Robbie Paul). Personally I still feel that Brough would be a better long term signing, but we shouldnt underestimate the impact 'superstar' players can have on a team, especially the youngsters. Also I would prefer us to sign less and less players from down under with each passing season, im proud that the core of our team is british and thats what we should be aiming for. | |

| 33 years old is too LONG in the tooth for a scrum half , as good as he has been for Stains won't offer us much. | |

| How old is Stacey Jones? He's still doing the rounds with NZ Warriors isnt he? My view is that if you're good enuff then age is just a number. Bloody hell, I mite aswell just give up once I turn 30! | |

So we may as well just play McNally, look at Myler at Salford, Westerman & Shenton at Cas, Eastmond at Stains, Tomkins and Ainscough at Wigoon, why pay big money for Long when we possibly have one of the best Scrum Half/Stand Offs in the game? We don't know if he is ready till we try him

| l would certainly go with McNally, we have enough experienced playmakers to ease his passage, at 18 he is old enough, question is, is he good enough saw him against Widnes, cocky young sod, reminded me of a certain Mr Murphy forget Long, meal ticket, agree with all other anti Long posters here, and l would put money on him being injured most of the time. also after Sunday Robbo certainly bought himself some time | |
