| Saints are not in the best nick physically at the moment and they will have one hell of a match at the weekend, They will be underdogs against Wigan but there is no way they will roll over without a big effort so they may be in even worse nick after the game, We should have some first choice men back for this game ( not that i'm saying they should be in the side automatically ) I am a believer in not changing a winning team myself ( but that's another story, either way it should be a great opportunity to kick on from the HKR match, if we can win this one i think we have a very good chance to take the 3 after, It's important to get a home game in the playoffs. | |

| Surprised how dominant Saints were in the forwards against Wigoon, which has me a bit more concerned for our chances on Friday.
We need to come out ready for a physical battle from the off, nothing else will do or it will be another case of 'we know what we need to do to put it right next week' type of reaction on Monday in t'examiner.
Basically we have got to hang in there with them in the opening stages, match fire with fire.If we don't stand up to them then in all truth, following the other efforts at Wigan and Warrington,I will be realistically giving us next to no chance of getting to Old Trafford.Plus we have to play out our sets early on and let Danny get to the distance kick.

If some of our big name players are back, allowing that Saints had a very tough match against Wigan we should be more than capable of winning the forward battle, It all depends whether they go out there with some Aggression and determination to win, or whether they just hang back and wait for Saints to hit them, If they do the latter then it will be as you say ( the we know what went wrong speech ), I am hopeful we can win this one.

| Another depressing defeat which will probably see the end of our top 4 ambitions, ( much will depend on Catalan ). Not really any lack of effort last night, more a lack of skill and inability to break down a very good defence, endless kicks on the 2nd and 3rd tackles which Saints soon learned to anticipate, forwards standing flat not hitting the line with any pace, Not till the last quarter did we try to get round Saints and by then we had fallen into our usual habit of Knocking on every sett. Defence i thought was decent for the most part and would have kept most teams at bay but Saints ,Wigan, Wolves and a couple more aren't most teams and we are clearly not in their class anymore, The 2 obstructions could right easy have been given, and probably would have been on another night , or with another Vid ref but it would not have hidden the difference in the class, If Gilmour had taken his chance it would have helped, but in all honesty Saints looked to me to be doing only as much as they needed to do, and looked like they could step it up if needed. Luke Robbinson is one tough little player, most would have gone off with that crack on the head, Dreadful news about Odonnell don't think there's any chance we will see him again this year ( maybe not much of next year ) Hopefully the news of Brough will be better, All in all for me we look a very average team, capable of a classy move here and there, whereas early in the season we looked a very good team, tough and uncompromising who were capable of knocking good sides about, Don't know what has brought about the change, maybe it's a few things mixed, Squad size and rotation, long term contracts, injuries, maybe N Brown has run his race with the Giants, we certainly look a poorly coached team now, I expect we shall get the answers in the examiner. All that said, the fat lady is not warbling yet, we have the playoffs to come yet and although we need a massive turn round in form ( or better still a miracle) There is always a chance, and if we don't get anywhere, there will be loads of fans who will fall back on the ( look where we were 10 years ago) stuff, and that's fair enough I can't blame them, But it doesn't work for me anymore, What i see is another season going down the pan, a season where we are reputably spending the same money as the Wigans etc, with the biggest squad in the league. I want to see some Silverware, not more talk about Jam tomorrow, Sort it out NB that's what your earning top money to do. | |

| Not too depressed myself. If at the beginning of the season we'd been told we would split he games against Saints I think we would have been happy. Winning away to them is tough to do for any side.
To be honest, I would prefer 5th to 4th. I'd be quite happy to see Catalans overtake us. Let's face it, in the playoffs who would you rather play, the 8th place team at home or Wigan away. I know that the 4th place team is assured of a home game if they lose to Wigan, but you go into that game after a tough first playoff game against a side that presumably had an easier ride.
Let Catalans go to Wigan, let's take on one of the Hull teams a home.

Let Catalans go to Wigan, let's take on one of the Hull teams a home. That's fair enough , I don't agree with to much of it myself but then your opinion is as valid as mine. I would rather we finish as high up the league as we can, i think when you start looking at who you would rather not play if you finish in such a position and who would be better to play if you finished somewhere else, you are just making the best of a bad job so to speak, You have to be able to beat any of them to win the title, I don't hold with all this " we can't expect to beat Wigan" or " we haven't beat Saints away since 1978 or whatever we can't expect to beat them", I think we should be able to beat them, and by what NB says he thinks the same. Myself i think we are going through the same stages that Warrington went through, Promising and threatening to be a top side for years yet always folding when it came to the crunch, They always had a good squad but not till T Smith went there did they become a good consistent side. Some one on here, " who seems to get inside info " posted a few weeks ago that" all is not well " and It's not hard to believe, something has changed the team from one who were capable of beating anyone to one who are struggling to find a bit of form. As i said in my earlier post there were some signs, the effort was there for the most part, just the skill levels and decisions were poor, so maybe things are starting to turn round a bit and they will pick up in the playoffs. For next season i would prefer a bit more class and a few less numbers, " just my opinion " and easier said than done.

| Paul Cullen in his boots & all review described this game as the contenders (Saints) versus the pretenders ( Giants) That was from a former SL coach and player, and not the view of so called negative fans.
Watching the our attack struggle the way it did was pretty depressing stuff, especially with the amount of great field position we had.We blew at least 2 glorious chances/overlaps on our right edge with going to the kick too early on the first opportunity, and then pivot choosing to go inside rather than pass out on the other
Also as Cullen pointed out the players are no longer pushing up in support like they were doing.
This is the frustrating thing,we get one aspect of our game right, then another aspect just totally seems to fall away.
