| It was a good evening Congratulations to all the players but a very special well done to Andy who spoke well during his acceptance speeches 4 times. Ken gave a speech holding nothing back at how disappointed he was with the season and left no doubt as to what he expects next season. They had a screen linked to televisions around the room showing tries which we were able to vote for the best try. The meal was good and it was a very professional evening.
Oh and the prototype shirt was sold for £400, Wild was the model.

| RALEIGH AND WHATUIRA STEAL SHOW AT AWARDS EVENING Giants stars Andy Raleigh and Paul Whatuira stole the show at the Giants 2008 Awards evening, with the Huddersfield-born forward and the New Zealand International centre sharing 7 awards at the prestigious sell-out event. Raleigh was rewarded for his efforts in the engage Super League XIII season with a 4 award haul, winning the ‘Squadbuilder Man of Steel’, Top Tackler 2008, Player’s Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year, whilst Whatuira was also a prominent figure on stage as he was presented with his awards as ‘Top Try Scorer 2008’, ‘Most Meters Gained 2008’ and ‘Coaches Player of the Year’ as selected by Paul Anderson and Kieron Purtill. Rising star Danny Kirmond was also celebrating after winning the ‘Try of the Season’ award for his side-stepping effort against St Helens in Round 26, as voted by guests on the evening. Kirmond also collected the ‘Hadfields Bakers Player of the Month’ award for August due to his impressive displays in the back-row. The Giants also took the opportunity to unveil the ‘all-new’ KooGa produced Claret and Gold home shirt which the side will take to the field in for the 2009 season. Stephen Wild modelled the design which has been described as ‘traditional yet modern’ and initial feedback suggests that fans will clamour for the shirt which is now available to pre-order ahead of arrival in early December and supporters are advised to keep checking www.giantsrl.com for exclusive pictures of the new shirt. 330 guests at the sell-out event were treated to 11 awards in total, which are listed below: ‘Hadfields Bakers Player of the Month Award’ for August- Danny Kirmond ‘Squadbuilder Man of Steel Award’- Andy Raleigh ‘Giants on Tour’ Player of the Year- Ryan Hudson ‘Academy Player of the Year’ sponsored by The Vice Presidents- Jacob Fairbank ‘Reserve Player of the Year’ sponsored by Mel Green and Alan Bamber- Jermaine McGillvary ‘Top Try Scorer 2008’ sponsored by Fantastic Media- Paul Whatuira 'Top Tackler 2008’ sponsored by Marshall Wooldridge- Andy Raleigh ‘Outstanding Achievement Award 2008’ sponsored by Arrow Self Drive- Michael Lawrence ‘Most Meters Gained 2008’ sponsored by Andrew Jones Pies and Pasties- Paul Whatuira ‘Players Player of the Year Award 2008’ sponsored by Dual Seal Glass- Andy Raleigh ‘Coaches Player of the Year Award 2008’ sponsored by Disposables UK- Paul Whatuira ‘Supporters Player of the Year Award 2008’ sponsored by Queens Square Properties- Andy Raleigh Link to Official site | |

Do we know if the new home shirt will be used for 1 or 2 seasons? It'll be rotated like it has been in previous years. The only reason we had 2 new shirts this year was because of KooGa taking over the replica shirts and merchandise. The white shirt will be the next one to be changed for 2010.
