A new Hodgson joining us next season.

Brett Hodgson, captain of the Wests Tigers in Australia's National Rugby League, will join English Super League club Huddersfield on a two-year deal at the end of the 2008 season.

Hodgson, in his 12th NRL season, was a member of the Tigers' premiership team in 2005.

"It's a new chapter in my footballing career and in my life as well," Hodgson said Thursday. "It's disappointing to obviously be leaving the Tigers where I've had wonderful memories in the last five years."

Off-contract, Hodgson said the salary cap and little interest from other NRL clubs had made it an easy decision. He played 212 first-grade and six State of Origin matches for New South Wales.

At 30 years old he's coming to the end of his career but still has a couple of years in him. So i'm happy with this, shame he can't come over now.

Should be arriving around the same time as our Hodgson is fit?

That was a rumour on the Mother board a week or two back. No-one picked up on it. Neither on the comment that Hudson's on his way out at the season's end. Personally I wouldn't want to see either go.

I would hope Hudson stayed here, as for Thorman not so sure.

He'll [as in Hodgson] never be picked playing like that unless he changes his style. Suppose once our coaching staff have worked on him...

Thorman has had a poor deal from the fans IMO, to be drafted into fullback and still expected to be play maker is not on. I would not be surprised to see Hudson go and i will be very disappointed if he does, for me along with DeVere and Drew he has been our best signing for many a long year. There is one thing for certain, whoever comes and goes i wont be listening to all the hype about how good we are going to be. The man i would most like to see at the Giant is Graham Murray, don't think there's much chance.

If Hudson should leave us , which i hope he doesn't. I will be very disapointed if we finish up with someone like Higham, who i expect to be leaving Wigan.

Interesting, like others I will reserve judgement on whether he will be a super star or not, although his credentials suggest he will be a big positive on our side. Certainly something to look forward to.

Looks like a good prospect. We should be doing all we can to keep Razza though.
Thorman has had a rough deal from some fans, not of his own doing though.
A bloody good shake-up is needed management-wise though, mayb then the team will play.

Although it's a positive that we're still attracting players like this to the club given our poor form recently. However he'll be coming when our Hodgson is fit, and he's 30 which suggests he'll be nearing the end of his career. Personally I think that, instead of signing aussies, we should be developing young players who can play at fullback. Leroy can play at fullback as can Tom. If he was coming over now then it would be a different matter because at the moment we don't have a fullback as the younger players could do with a bit more time to develop.

Aye that was part of the reason i put the link up. I can't see how he'll get a work permit cos for an oversees coach to get a work permit he needs to be a coach in the last 2 years or coach of a national team ala Smith(Japan coach).
