PostSubject: Interesting times   Interesting times EmptyThu Oct 10, 2013 7:17 pm

Not been on here for a while, been away Golfing quite a bit but been trying to stay up to date with things.

Things are getting interesting between the RFL and Super league, I'm not the least bit surprised by all thats happening but i am a bit surprised at the timing, still it had to come at some time so i don't suppose , or i hope it doesn't effect the WCup to badly.

It seems that the Giants or to be correct KD is in the Leneghan camp on this and that also doesn't surprise me, If i were him i would be doing everything in my power to keep my share of Sky money as high as i could.

Whether all this is good for the game in general is another matter and I'm not claiming to know any answers on that, I do feel that if some more revenue is not streamed into the lower divisions in some way ,they will just continue on the slow downward spiral they are on now.
This is maybe where a little good may come out of this latest crisis, we may get a change of personel at RFL headquarters, Is't only my opinion, but to use that well know saying of O Cromwell," They have been sitting there far too long for any good they have been doing " I can't imadgine anyone doing a worse job than they have done in most area's of the Game, Sponsership "Shambolic" Reffereeing standards " abismall" and deteriating, Disaplinary "Biased and completely nonsencical"  and it goes on.

It's not something i am happy about but the game is now controlled by Sky, nothing i can do about that, and little anyone else can do either, without Sky the game woould vanish of the planet very quickly, and for that reason Leneghan , Mr Davy and the rest will do all they can to keep Sky happy.
The way to do that as far as i can see is to make the games on TV as attractive as possible, this means providing quality players who can perform at the Highest level, this in turn demands money to pay them, Which is why the majority of SL clubs will vote to keep as much money as they can.

So what about League below SL level, Well maybe this is where a change in personel at Red hall may be just what is needed, More has to be done to market the game at that level, As far as i know the RFL raises its funds outside of SL, but there doesn't seem to be anyone with the abillity to do anything other that keep coming up with kneejerk scheems every couple of years.
If the resposibillity of SL were out of their hands maybe some new people could make something of the lower leagues,
It's at times like this you realise how lucky we have been to have a man like K Davy at the Giants, He has not got eveything right, but then who does get everything right, he certainly gets my respect.

On the subject of the Giants, MY congratulations to all at the club for a great season, How good was it to see K Davy finally lift some silverwhere, if ever a man deserved it he does, I hope someday he gets some kind of recognision from Huddersfield for what he has don for The Giants and town.

Well done P Anderson, he has delivered in his first season and he shows every intension of keeping it going, I am happy with the signings he has made, especially Broughton, I would still dearly like to see a top class half, but Robinson has had a decent season and Props were a more pressing need with the loss of Fielden, who i am glad is staying at the Giants.

Many of the squad have improved their game this season and stepped up their performances, Murphy, Ferris, Kopczac in fact all of them, But you have to say that Brough has been a real gem, There was no one more pleased than me when he came to the club "reputation and all " He has genuine quality in his game and i would say being Captain has had a good effect on him.
The awards he has won both at the club and in the game in general are well deserved and reflect the mans abillity, he has a chance to become one of the genuine Legends of the game, rather than the many who are called Legends who are no more in reality than good players. In my time of watching Fartown, Pat Devery and Dave Valentine were the biggest Legends, and if he stays with us Brough will be right up there with them, a bit to go yet but he has time.

So all in all a good season and hopfully it will be reflected in the crowds next season, Not much more KD and the team can do,

Lenaghan has got this about right,go back to 1 up 1 down promotion/relegation,and leave the rest as it is.Sadly the club who comes up will (as they used to before franchising) not have enough time to get a squad together, will get spanked in the SL and go bust, but the lower clubs can't have it both ways, they hate franchising fair enough,so they have now to take their chance on making it in the SL.

I have not much sympathy with any of them now following past experiences.

Thanks yet again Sir Ken is all I will say.

The LLS was a great achievement,if you are blobbed out of the CC early then you can put all your focus onto the LLS,which is what we did.Warrington wanted it after they lost in CC semi, but that was a very unexpected loss to Widnes, who's fault was that? Goons fair enough when got to CC final were distracted.Whinos usual arrogant selves,we don't worry about LLS we win it from 4th/5th,their luck had to run out one year, and this was the year.

We got the LLS,and still made a very good fist of the play offs so striving for the LLS did not affect us that much.

So anyone who tries to disparage our 2013 LLS is no more than a complete and utter clueless fool IMO

Agree with most of that DL. It is the jealous who try to disparage our LLS win, I think we all recognise that it is the third trophy after the GF and CC, but still a trophy. In football terms akin to winning the League Cup in prestige (though the LLS is more difficult imo taking 27 matches). The LLS win was a Giant stride forward for us, no doubt about it.

On the other issue I do have some sympathy for the Championship sides, but the correct way forward has to be to find a way of bringing them up to SL standard, not levelling 4-6 SL clubs down in standard. I have heard whispers there is also an unreported issue of the rebel clubs not being happy with the influence Mr Hetherington at Leeds has over Red Hall, very interesting if true.

I think there is a strong possibillity that Mr Hetherington may learn that he is not as big as he thinks he is, If i have learned anything in life ,it is that Money talks louder than anything or anyone else.

Simples, back SIR KD with as much of your disposable as you possibly can.

I know this will fall on deaf ears as there is a lot of thickness, but I will keep on pleading knowing it just sadly won't sink in.

Thickos - do want us to end up like Budfud.

Do you care enough to stop that happening.

If that is enough to drive Fools off here for good that will do for me.

Hudds Fools are hated on Fools, which is amusing, even numpty budfud scummers know how dumb hudds Fools contributors are.
