Well, here we go again... Leeds at home.

How do you think we will do? What will Leeds do without their precious "Sir Kev"?

If both teams play well we will win. If we do not approach the game with the correct attitude we will lose. I would like to think that Baloo will have us fired up but the international break and the already on holiday performance at HKR are a concern.

Logically we should do it, we seem to match up well v Leeds and they have key players out, but for some reason I am not as confident as I should be, perhaps just natural pessimism?

With the players missing for Leeds our lads would only have themselves to blame if they didn't get the two points from this one. Bumps and bruises should be at a minimum at the moment. If they have the right mental attitude and stick to the plan it should be ours. Can't wait to see the claret and gold in action again.

If we stick to the gameplan, complete our sets, kick deep and chase, like we have been doing sucessfully all this season,I could see us putting a lot ofpoints on Leeds. If they try and get too fancy too early that will only help Leeds.Rhinos will want to avoid an arm wrestle so I really want us to grind them early, hit front runners which has been so effective. When we have got40 points on the board, then play some footy.

The tough uncompromising footy we have played this time has been a real credit to Ando & Purtill.Having the two best centres inSL has helped a lot cos we know those are the two hardest defensive positions on a paddock.

Plus when wedo fo to a shift there is good structure there toback up the tough footy.

We should beat them, if you look at both squads and the injuries/suspensions for Leeds, Sinfield, McGuire, Bailey, Moon, Watkins, LeuLuai, Ablett, Delaney and how poor their defence was against Widness we should win. However we all know what giants side can turn up and in these Yorkshire derbys, form goes out of the window. Either way I'm predicting an exciting, fast paced game with either side winning by 6-10 points

Leeds whingers,we have no Fielden,no Charlie but are we looking to excuses when we grind them into the dirt.

Watching that Wierdnes embarrassing defence brought it home to any half insane Fartown fan/sad grixy lover what Ando & Purtill have done for our team and Sir Ken.

Sinfield, McGuire, Bailey, Moon, Watkins, LeuLuai, Ablett, Delaney,ha ha ha would not take any of that lot over the likes of Cudjoe,Wardle,Ferres,Ukuma,Eorl, plus the daddy of them all Jermaine McGillvary, what a legend this man is.

It''s a real busy time of year for golf DL, but i am managing to get to the games, I'm down for the Lunch and Crunch on Sunday and hoping we can add to the Rhino's woe's.  As far as the game goes it is surely ours if we want it, It will depend what attitude they turn up with, if it's the same as the C Cup game we will crush the team they are able to put out, If it's like the second half at KR we will struggle to get a win of  any sort.
Leeds made heavy weather of the game against Widnes who were very poor in defence, while  at the same time they had little trouble scoring points against the Rhino's, We are a far better side than the Vikings so all things being equal we should be strong favorites, Incidentally i am becoming more and more impressed with a couple of Widnes players, Mellor and Hanbury , both look to have a bit of quality about them.
One thing that is pleasing about the Giants is , Tai is starting to look the real deal, I was quite critical of the club for signing him, Not because of his play( i didn't know anything about it ) but because of his size and fitness when he arrived, it seemed to me a real gamble in view of the experiences with  Fa-alogo and O Donnel, However that's history  now and I'm happy to say he is showing up well , He has obviously worked hard to get himself in shape and if he stays relatively free of  injuries  he could  be  a real asset.
Cudjo  Eorl and Ferris all did well for England which will be very  good for their confidence, So  all things being equal if we turn up with the right attitude we don't need to fear Leeds or  anyone else, Hope there's a big crowd to get behind them and we might just see a performance out of the top drawer

No Eorl as run on prop meant we were weak early with the ruck fringe defence. How much longer for Fielden ? If we don't get Fielden back before the end of this campaign it will be another hard luck story.

I think the fact that our lads were not used to the style of the Leeds reserve players meant they got more metres forward than their injured ones would have done, them that we know all about.

Lunt is magnificent, how he is not a GB rake is unbelievable. All the tricks of the trade and much much more,he looks like an NRL hooker playing in the lower quality Super League.Broughy, dazzling footwork, they got burned by his footwork trying to rush him on an early kick play after that he took the pish.

Some of the 'simple' plays that led to our tries just brilliant, need to watch them again.

Only slight concern if we may not have the ruck fringe defence early on then, even a crap team like Leeds could take advantag,on the back of self belief of previous years. We need Fielden back in there asap, but must say Kopczak today was total class, best game in a Giants shirt this time.

Agree with just about all of that DL  Lunt and Brough were just different class today, Leeds just couldn't cope with either one of them, Crabtree, Kopczak, Ferris, McGillvrey, all top class, Your mate didn't have his best game, i think maybe he is trying a bit too hard, the one thing you can't fault is his backing up, he is always there. Wardle  and Murphy didn't get much chance to shine in attack today but they were solid in defence, A good show against a poor side.
The one downside was the crowd, 7,700 and there  must have been near enough 3,000 from Leeds, that is extremely poor for a side next to top, and surely  can't go on without consequences, Wakey had 8,000 against London, if it had been London at the stadium today we wouldn't have got 5.000, Lord help us when Mr Davy's patience runs out, i reckon  it will be all up then.

Whatever Wakey are doing, our backroom staff need to learn from it.

The performance looked rusty, but was plenty enough for a weak Leeds team. It does go to show getting a week off during the play-offs may not be all its cracked up to be. I suppose it just depends what sort of game the opposition had in the build up and what condition they find themselves in.

Grix made some errors today, allowed a ball steal, dropped a relatively easy high ball, but few could handle Leeds high kicks, then got ten minutes as well as dropping off the young lad for a Leeds try. Still he was busy around the ruck and looking to play in broken play, nice try, also clever kick though in the second half too.

Lunt was awesome  and so was Brough. Robbo is getting better and better too. We need to take it to another level before the play-offs. If we can win the next two I think top 4 will be almost certain.

One thing to bear in mind, Wakefield doesn't have a football team. If a Wakefield fan wants to support the local team he goes and watches Wakey as the #1 choice. OTOH, for most people in Huddersfield, if you want to support the local team that means going to watch Hudds Town, and Fartown only if they can afford to pay to watch both. Like it or not football is more popular than RL (although I don't understand why either).

I don't think Grixy will be our FB next year,Ando likes solid defensive ob's/back threes, that's why Luke George lost his place. Is it possible to have a sensible discussion about Grix without the 'boo hoo it's just scapegoating' garbage. The way they always try to stifle an opinion they don't like on Fools. That's not at all aimed at you Bo or Matt.Notice that the 'scapegoat obsessives' totally ignore any balance offered in terms of the positive aspects.

Smurph will be our FB next year, pretty certain. As we know a FB in our game is like a goalkeeper in soccer,if they make a mistake it is often costly as they are the last line of D.
Grixy offers a lot on go forward,he's a really dangerous and mazy runner if he gets some space, plus he always is there to offer back up to the ball carrier.Enjoyed watching Grixy for Fartown over the years a really entertaining player,a great servant in many ways. There does seem a problem now with him getting stripped one on one on his exit, maybe he needs to tuck the ball to his chest, but they encourage them to carry it two hands in front to keep the opposition guessing, not fussed he dropped that bomb yesterday,it happens to the best of them and his bomb diffusal and turning defence into attack is normally second to none.He has been known to drop off tackles.Depends if as a fan you believe the strengths outdo any weaknesses.

We toyed with Leeds yesterday, they spent lots of time on our line, got repeats, wanted to avoid an arm wrestle at all costs, but we were as committed as ever to stop them, went up their end and showed how it should be done. That move where Eorl takes it to the line then spins and passes it  to the half back worked a treat yet again, scored a few tries off that move recently, much like the runaround move from the old days that you don't see anymore.

Lunt had been  incredible all season,he must have had a masterclass off Buderus when at Leeds. The way he is switching play from the ruck is as good as Cameron Smith does it and he is the Aus 9.

Brough what a tough nugget he is,much more than a kicking game, rush up on him and his quick feet and strength will create a try out of nothing.

I have come around to this ^ way of thinking, having two codes in a town is 'direct competition',you are one or the other, whereas Weakfield,Warrington,Stains, where no doubt thousands of wendyball fans of the premier league exist, don't see the local RL club as a direct threat.

About 2k Rhinos there yesterday tops,as Nicola said 1700 think it was in south stand, plus they always have a few in kilner bank.

Sir Ken must be totally gutted, but he keeps soldiering on,well proud to say I introduced a new ST holder this time, whereas so many were just wanting to tell anyone who would listen how they were jacking in after last year.

I knew that the regulars on this forum would always return despite misgivings.

I'm thinking that top 4 and probably top 3 is already well within our grasp. We're well placed in the table, and the remaining fixtures aren't that bad. We have two awkward ones coming up (Catalans at home and Hull away) but we ought to be favourites in each game. There's the one really hard fixture (Wigan away) which we can afford to lose and still remain in the top three. (But wouldn't it feel good to win and do the double over the Pie Eaters?) Then the remaining matches are all against teams we should beat comfortably (London, Castleford, Bradford, Wakefield, and Salford). So, we could well win 7 out of 8, unless we treat the minnows too lightly.

Then look at the table, and who's just below us. To drop out of the top 4 would mean losing more matches from here on out than Warrington and two other teams. Leeds are 5 points behind but have a game in hand, so we'll call it 3 points behind. Catalans are 6 points behind, and then come the two Hull teams at 8 points behind. That means that with 8 games remaining Leeds have to win at least two more than us. Catalans would have to win at least 3 more, and the Hull teams 4 more, and all of those three would also have to dramatically improve the scoring difference. Ours is far superior to any of theirs, by 100 points or more. Leeds might catch us, but I don't think that the others will. Although any one can play well one week, I don't think any of them are consistently good enough to pull back 3 or more games out of 8. Beat Catalans on Friday and their challenge for our top four spot is over, and I don't think the Hull teams will make it either. So Leeds are our only real enemy in the battle to be in the top 3, with only an outside chance of us losing the fourth spot. 5 wins would guarantee top 4, and I think we'll win more than that.

I think that the top four is probably already decided; Wigan, Fartown, Warrington and Leeds, although not necessarily in that order. I think the next four are decided also, Bradford are 3 points behind St Helens, and Wakefield are 4 behind (but with a game in hand). That's enough for St Helens to squeeze in at the #8 spot. Leeds and Catalans might swap places, and either Bradford or Wakefield could still catch St Helens, but my money is on neither of those possibilities happening.

The downside . . . . it is looking very much like Fartown and Warrington will be 2 and 3 in one order or the other. Which means we will be up against them in the playoffs, venue to be decided. I'm getting fed up of playing Warrington.lol!

Probably  why their youths are so good.

What does a players performance manager do?.

It took my son in law 7 phone calls  5  days and  2 promises of I'll get him to ring you back ( which never happened ) to get three  tickets for the lunch and crunch, so i know some of what the ticket administrater doesn't do.
