England Squad Empty

Congratulations to Cudjoe, Ferres and Crabtree on making the England squad. Although the fact that both Brough and Lunt have not been picked speaks volumes of how incompetent McNamara is. We are 2nd in the league and only 3 of ours players have been picked, ridiculous.

Great news for the lads selected, Lunt is there are there abouts for selection, but England does have a lot of excellent hookers. Brough not being selected is an absolute joke, he is the stand out half back in Super League, no-one is close to him at the moment. If we are to beat Australia and New Zealand we need options, Brough provides those and he is currently the form half back, why he is not selected is beyond me.

England Squad Empty
PostSubject: Re: England Squad   England Squad EmptyWed Jun 05, 2013 3:45 pm

It is a strange squad, only 20 players which is fair enough as only 17 can play and there is a round of SL to be played this weekend when knocks/injuries could occur, but the balance of positions is completely wrong:

2 Fullbacks
2 Wingers
1 Centre
1 full time half back (Chase)
1 half back/loose forward (Sinfield)
1 half back/hooker (Burrow)
1 Hooker (who has been out 10 weeks and played one game since returning)
4 Props
6 Second Rows
1 Loose Forward

He really should be picking centres to play centre, I suspect either Hardaker or possibly Ferres will play centre, which is not the best he could have gone for. I think he has decided Atkins is not up to international RL defensively, but he could have picked Goulding from Wigan, Yeaman or Crookes from Hull our own Joe Wardle (though he may be set for Scotland with Broughy) or any other Englishman who actually plays centre - madness.

Not that I am actually bothered as a Scot myself, but I've been down here long enough to actually quite like you lot!
