| Strong rumors we have signed him for 4 years ( don't know if it's true ) I have always rated him and was hoping we would sign him when he was being offloaded by Leeds a few seasons ago, He has lots of pace( which i like ) and i could see him doing very well outside the likes of Ferris and Wardle. If it's true i can see George going somewhere and Murphy becoming fullback ( just my opinion ) That wouldn't suit everyone on here i'm sure cause there are plenty who are well happy with Grix at fullback. I'm not anti Grix, i think he is in his best position at fullback, I just think Murphy is a better option. If all this was to transpire there is always a chance Grix may be played at SO which for me would be the worst of all worlds and in fact the whole thing begs the question , why would we be looking to sign Wingers when our burning need is for a half back, Still it's all food for thought and if it comes about i would be very happy to see Broughton in Claret and Gold. Watch this space. | |

| I like both smurph and grix as I think what they lack in "amazingness" they make up for in a heap of effort. Grix to HB isn't a good enough option BUT having Murphy instead of grix at FB I think is a step backwards as we rely on brough too much as it is- Murphy is a good defensive fullback but offers nothing creative if we were to lose grix we would struggle to create as he's the only other player we have with any sort of kicking game and he joins the line and shows some nice touches when the forwards remember to come forward for a pass! We do lack a real speedster on the team, and broughton would bring that. With no grix if brough gets injured ....... | |

I agree they both have their better points, Murphy i would say is safer and runs the ball in harder, Grix has more flair and as you say has a kicking game, If Murphy was to become fullback, the need for a half would become even more necessary. Maybe it would be possible to keep both if it was just Broughton for George, but it still doesn't sort the halfback which has been the main requirement for a few seasons, K Brown for me was a centre, although some will disagree, It is all just speculation at the moment, but sometimes these rumors have something to them.

| Thought the main reason they offloaded flying wingers was because they couldn't tackle.Let's be honest you went to Salford if you couldn't get a gig at one of the big clubs.Same age as Luke George, but Luke missed a few crucial one on one tackles towards the end of last season, which could be why PA has shipped him out.Not sure if LG is coming OOC.Maybe Broughton has progressed. Not seen that much of him,but know he is certainly quick. You can never have enough pace in this game.
Smurph at FB could be the future.Very safe hands, quicker than he may appear due to his somewhat awkward gait.Never seen him do any ball handling, but then he was never required to do that.

I will never know why Hull didn't keep Broughton when they had chance, he was certainly an eye catcher when he was with them, maybe the money was a problem at the time. Broughton certainly knows where the line is, a bit like D Hodgson but with speed aplenty. As i said earlier i would prefer Murphy to Grix at fullback on the whole, but also as Jools says without a new halfback it is not a step forward.

| I'd agree with the above. Grix is our best option at moment at full back whilst offering something in attack although he's nowhere good enough to be a half back. If we were to get a decent half back to partner Brough then i'd be happy for Murphy to go full back and let Grix go elsewhere or keep him as back up. | |

Luke is OOC - leroys mum said to me a few weeks ago that she didnt think it looked like he was going to be offered a new contract- that was before he went to KR.

| Well Jodie Broughton certainly looked impressive for Salford, not convinced at all that his try should have been chalked off, Gaskell was running in support and I don't think the Widnes player had any right to run through his line of running - he wouldn't have caught Broughton anyway.
JB didn't get tested in defence but was impressive in what he was asked to do
