Looking forward to this one. Hull look set to have a massive pack so it will be interesting how we approach the game. I feel if Danny can kick well and make their pack turn and chase a fair bit we will quickly tire them out and then start to break them down and win by a few scores.

Yes I agree mate. Hopefully Brough can be as good as last week in front of SKY cameras then surely the question should be asked why he's not in the England squad as the RL nation will see at first hand what England are missing. Sinfield again made plenty of cock ups with only one piece of decent play with his kick that led to a try. We need to sing 'Broughy for England' when Danny shows his brilliance and 'Are you watching Stevie Mac'.
It's not all about one player obviously as we need the rest of the guys to play at the top of their game. Big games needed from Leroy and Eorl to cement their place in the England set up and Ferres to earn a call up too. IT'S GAME DAY, LET'S BE LOUD AND PROUD!!!

The most important thing is it was the right result, however the performance needs a bit of polish. They say it's the sign of a quality team when you don't play particularly well but win. It was an ugly win, but I'll take it. If we can leann anything from Hull their defence got up quicker than us, this might have been because they were offside most of the time, but we did look a bit slow at times.

Got a bit criticle of our performance in the pub after, but as they reminded me this was a win that should be savoured,as it's how it has to go down when the waether is cold week after week.

McGillvary, the guy is super human, did the work of the other 16 players, after they got his ankle right he
is showing the rest of the losers how to play wing in super league.

Eorl, just super human too, drive after drive, especially when we needed to close that game out.How many yeasr has the great man played and how many times has he cried off with an injury,I'll answer that he never has.

Right praised, but the saddo Grixy lovers will ignore that,as I go to concerns.Chan was missed big stylee as Ferguson doesn't bump off players.

Ground out the win on the back of great defence, yet agian plus McGillvary's metres.Hull were gash kicking it dead time after time.

Leroy,is the complete centre,no one gets past him one on one and he makes 10 metres evey carry.

Good grind ouut win,but they must know when it gets warner they are going to try and play some football or we will not win a trophy.

Add to that- we did perhaps lack some speed- BUT we have a very tough two weeks coming up and if they can conserve some energy to help the way along then who can blame them. Our completion rate was 95% and we made two unforced errors all game. THAT will win us games.

Grix does sometimes die with the ball when he judges a move is not on. He comes back inside and takes the tackle, whatever the tackle count.

I don't see that as bad play, it is certainly conservative or safe play and perhaps the criticism is that we will win nowt by being conservative? I think there is a time to take a risk and a time to play safe. Scott Grix tends to play safe when he has time to think. In most circumstances that is the right thing to do.

Scott is not the best full back in the league, but he is certainly not the worst either. After the likes of Tomkins, Hodgson, Hardaker and perhaps Lomax I think he stands favourable comparison with the rest.

A breath of fresh air there Dee,there is someone who else who can see what's happening when our FB joins the line.(Matt & Ponner you made good points in the other thread, but replying here as Dee has summed up exactly what I was thinking in a nutshell)

Thing was when Grix died with it on the last, the flat pass across Wardle to Murphy WAS on.

At some stage I believe, when it comes to the stick and lift,if we want to win a trophy we are going to have to play more expansive, the FB joining the line is going to have abandon the safety first.I'd rather Grix try and put on the flat cut out pass across the centre to the winger, even if it is intercepted or goes into touch on occasions. No doubt some of the crowd would moan if it went wrong, but not myself,I would applaud Grixy for the attempt every time.If we don't we are back to the NB tactics of just build pressure with grubbers, get repeats hope the defence cracks, but that only got us so far previously

Also agree with you Dee,the coming back inside happens when Grix has time to think, when he acts instinctively that's when he's at his best with his handling.Agree again that Grix has many good aspects as a FB,but no doubt that last point will be ignored by some.

Phil Clarke backed this up last week when he stated 'THE most important aspect of a FB's game is being able to pass under pressure',and then NB who also said 'the best FB's now are half backs' Do the opinions of these two count for much?

I don't entirely agree that the best FBs are half backs, but they do need to be a serious attacking threat. Brett is the best I've seen in a Fartown shirt and he's rarely played at 6 or 7, however he has some similarities of a half, but if he was so good at that stuff why not play 6 or 7 instead? Same goes with Tomkins and all the others.
