Very interesting piece on Superleague Backchat this week that appears to backup what most fan have been saying for years.

They did a league table on penalties awarded to the home team and found the top of the league by far were clubs with large passionate crowds such as Wigan, Leeds, Catalans, Hull etc

The clubs at the bottom were London, Huddersfield, Salford etc

FFS time Cummings got his finger out of his arse and the refs grew a pair and started wearing earmuffs if that's what it takes!!!

Can't get to the Supporters meeting when Cummings is guest as work nights but would love for someone on my behalf to ask Cummings his feelings on the problems of refs been swayed by the crowd especially now we have the proof.

Great to have tv coverage about it too cos when we raise the issue it's sour grapes, if it gets enough airtime they are going to have to start listening.

Possibly, but to play devils advocate the top teams get on with it and play rugby, struggling teams spoil and look to disrupt. It is a fine line between good rugby and rule breaking rugby. Coaches have been very concerned with our tactics when Brown first took over and then again with Wigan when they shot to the top of the table. Good teams play to the ref, adapt to the conditions in front of them, whether that be the weather, the pitch, the opposition or the ref. Using the ref as an excuse doesn't change the scoreline.

Having said that, most fans, me included have always thought the refs favour certain teams and players. Probably not deliberately, but if they see Widnes beating Wigan, then they subconsciously think maybe I'm allowing Widnes to get away with too much and that's why they are beating Wigan, better keep a closer eye on Widnes offside, tackling, play of the ball etc...

I think we all saw a classic example of the problem in the Luke O'Donnell sending off. Leeds fans baying for action, Sinfield in his ear and the weakest ref out there buckled and changed his original decision of putting the incident on report. Same ref sin binned the same player at Odsal because of Bradford fans booing, despite the entire incident being started by a clear swinging arm into a held player (Danny Brough).

Two dreadful decisions that illustrate the issue, other refs do the similar, just not as badly.

Finally, when is Alibert's contract up? If a player performed as badly as he they would not get a new contract.

There is truth in all that has been written here, some ref's are Homers some Big teamers some clamp down on one thing ,others ignore that thing, The one thing they all have in common is, they are not good enough, Cummings himself was a very poor ref, so why is he in the job. The currant crop of ref's range through Poor to inconsistent to downright incompetent, Far to many games are decided by reffing calls both on field and Video.
Mr Cummings will be able to explain why all this is not so and how we have the best crop of ref's in sport, and the RFL will be the first to back him up.
I would be interested to know how you would go about replacing the currant board of the RFL, I would think that the famous words of Oliver Cromwell would have been just as relevant the the RFL as the were to the Parliament of his day.
