Well Eorl did say in the examiner that they were all going to put in a shift for each other today.Let's hope they are true to their word,or it could be another disaster.

I fear for this match. Although at least no one expects much today. The pressure is off, maybe without the expectation the players can relax and play with less fear.

Well they didn't want to play for NB,and more worryingly if last week is owt to go by,it appeared they didn't want to play for Paul Anderson.

Maybe they've been waiting for Keiron Purtill to come on board and we'll see an increased work ethic tonight.

Ferres should help provide some impetus, unless he get's caught up quickly in the current malaise the rest of them are in just now.

Dale Ferguson out, must be honest and say not that fussed on current form.Fooey & Bruno return.

James Child is our ref.

Glad PA could see the positives over that game. We lose 46-12 and Saints didn't look at their very best (well they didn't need to be). Yes effort was better from some players, but missing tackles so frequently is baffling. At the beginning of the season the same players rarely missed a tackle and when they did team-mates covered for them, now the same players let the opposition slip by them and no-one helps out. Is it a fitness thing?

Thought we showed some promise on attack, in fact think we showed more flair midway through the first half than anytime since NB abandoned his mobility ideas.Other than that not much to shout about.

Saints fans ont'other forum have summed it up though- Giants showed 'a lack of aggression' & 'far to soft'

Paul Cullen on commentary talking about where we were going wrong stated 'a team has to go out and stamp their authority in the forwards in the early stages'

How long is this going to continue before PA gets them fired up before kick off.
I think he is suffering from the NB plan to have mobility at the start of the season rather than power.

They won't win another game this year until they get some aggression back in the forwards.

There was a bit more effort on show ,and that's about all that can be said in their favor, The gap in the class between them was as big as the grand canyon, They have no fire in their bellies, the Saints forwards were just using our pack as a training session, We never knock a man backwards in the tackle, they always make 3/5 yds after the tackle, whereas we are stopped dead with the exception of Earl who can sometimes make a bit extra, Another thing they can do is off load, and they can seemingly do it at will, even with 3 of our men in the tackle they can still get the ball away, Our off loads you can count on 3 fingers, In fact i think our players believe off loading is against the rules.
One on one tackling is just a joke, and despite all what's happened we are still playing with 4 Hookers, If the likes of Eorl ( my Grandson has more aggression ) cant stop a forward how the hell is Moore going to do it, The number of times you see a opposition forward barging forward with two of our players being dragged along and Eorl doing side skips with his hands just layed on instead of knocking the lot down, Iv'e lost count.
We have quite a few players with some talent, Brough is the most obvious, without him and his kicking it's doubtful we would score half the points we do, Cudjo is a very talented player in between the bouts of lacsidaisical can't be asrsed periods, Lawrence is a very decent tackler, but only occasionally shows anything in attack.

You could go on forever listing every players good and bad points, but the sum total of the lot adds up to a very poor team who will be lucky to get another point all season, they are merely making up the numbers from now on.

Wouldn't be surprised if K Davy walks away at the end of this season, i reckon he has suffered enough, the people of Huddersfield are not bothered about Rugby league, The only way people will turn up in any numbers is if the team win things ( not going to happen ) or he lets them in free, and to be honest I don't think i would go then, they are just not worth the effort.

All this is just my opinion, it's not meant to upset anyone who has favorite players i may have named, I just feel that after all the money, all the hype, all the talk and all the expectation we are still no nearer being a top side, There is only maybe 6 players i would keep , all the rest are over rated , over payer and not good enough.

Having watched it again, there were a few signs that a few green shoots of recovery could be seen, though obviously there is a lot of improvement needed.

However the basics like first up contact, controlling the ruck, work from markers needs sorting, that is an absolute priority.

James Child,my god he doesn't have much of a clue, some really harsh calls against us,and he wouldn't recognise a ball strip if his life depended on it

Hope your right mate, but it seems to me that the little green shoots that appear from time to time always come from the same few players. Something very sadly wrong somewhere.

I know, sounds daft talking of green shoots for a side who have just conceded 46 points.

The defensive comittment is as bad as ever - as I stated - until they get that sorted they have no chance.

As you stated in an earlier post,I too am sick of this grabbing by the forwards around the chest trying to pull the opposition ball carrier over,as he then makes an extra 6,7,8,9 even 10 yards yards forward in the process. This is what has disappointed me about Anderson's opening games,I thought an ex prop like him would read the riot act and have our forwards getting the shoulder hard into contact, trying to stop them dead in their tracks, but it's still the same lack of aggression on display as under NB just before he was replaced.

Green shoots, well I thought Gilmour ran it up stronger than of late.Chan made some eye catching metres.Ferres did some good things, got the legs pumping on collision, and a few solid tackles.

Good to see them spread it on a couple of occasions using 2nd man plays,to me NB went overboard with this build pressure and they will crack on the back of repeat sets, grubbers and bombs, the best sides don't crack you have to show some flair to get past them.

Grix without being brilliant showed some fair decent touches as a pivot, loked to be some structure there late in the first half.Brough proved that maybe he could be a playmaker, just needed to be given the chance, maybe this is Purtill's influence already.

Summat maybe a bit positive amongst the devastation that in truth was a crushing defeat.

Lets hope it starts coming together then while they still have some fans, It's too late for this season but It's never too late to improve and give people a bit of hope for next year.
