I see he has gone to Cas, Sad but inevitable, Good luck to him and thanks also for his efforts, he had some good games for us, He will find it easier to get into the team at cas than he would have at our place, maybe he will be another Menzies.

Agree 100% done ok for us but wouldn't get the game time next season if we got owt about us as a back row of Chan, Doof and O'Donnell would be my 1st choice.

Heard rumours Doof is off at season end so if that's true it would explain the Ferres, Tickle rumours.

Money saved from the likes of Brown, Gilmour will go nicely towards a big nasty prop and more importantly a top class stand off to compliment Broughy

Totally agree we have needed a quality stand off for a long time, we have had players who have done Ok there, but Ok is no longer good enough and we need some fire in the pack to be sure.

Feel a bit sorry for Gilly tbh. Older players are less flexible (in terms od dramatic position changes) and need to look after their bodies. He has been knocked about a lot this year playing prop a position for which he is not really physically equiped. His Rugby nous enabled him to do a job there until other coaches worked out what we were doing. Watching him put back at centre on Sunday was painful, he has been doing big contact all year, a different sort of fitness to the running required at centre.

It was no surprise that he was shot after about 20 minutes, that was poor coaching/selection, fortunately London were not very good.

While I am at it, it is madness to have Brown and Grix together in the defensive line, neither are very strong tacklers, willing yes but physically both get bounced and overpowered.

Always thought Brown's defense is pretty good but Grix's leaves a lot to be desired.

Agree 100% Ponner, normally Brown tackles well and was a bonus part of his game when at stand off, only problem is that's not a stand offs job and he wasn't upto the attacking part for that position. A good player but not wily, fast and clever enough for stand off.

Would still make a cracking centre IMO but not good enough for where we should want to be.

Gilly deserved the 2 years extension he got from the Giants imo.He bucked a trend,as over 30's normally just get offered 1 year from our club if they are lucky.

At Saints he was famous for picking good lines to create space for others, and fulfilled that type of role well when he first came to ours. Then later when NB went to the tough forward domination stuff of last season we saw Gilly carrying the ball up more.

This season moved up to prop and his mobility meant he was able to perform quite well in that position early on in the campaign. However his lack of size in the front row obviously took it's toll on him in the end,and the form has dropped away.He does seem to spill a lot of ball on impact these days that he never used to.

He obviously does not like propping, maybe one reason why he wants away.Overall been a good signing imo,Over 350 SL appearances in a distinguished career, hope he can join the 400 club of just KC & KS while at Cas.
