I must admit I was expecting a big loss today with all those players out through injury. Delighted I was dead wrong.

Sounded like terrific defence on Radio Leeds, Cracking way to start the season.

Great result, under the circumstances incredible result but I don't want to get too carried away as we started last season in similar fashion and we know how that ended. Still it shows the squad is big and there is certainly competition for places.

Agree Matt, as long as it stays competition and not just rotation for the sake of it, Either way It's a great start, I think Eorl did 50 minutes.

One difference though Last season we started out with a full squad, the results came, and then injuries hit and we fell away. This season the injuries are at the start of the season and we sill got the result. With a bit of luck things will get even better as first team players come back into contention for places.

Of course the big question is, 'can Wigan rescue their season?' (I doubt if Bradfud can)

We had one or two missing last season because Keal made his debut, but it was nothing like this time. A great result, my Wigan mate has been telling me Sam was made to look a total fool by Larne.

Well i'm shocked we won today with what I thought would be a weak forward pack. Fantastic boys! and maybe the senior players coming back from injury will have to bust a gut to get a place in the team when fit.

Just got back from the DW & all I can say is I'm astonished. It was one of the best team performances I've seen in a good while from Fartown. Crabtree was IMMENSE...talk about setting an example for the kids to follow...& follow it they did! Fairbank wasn't fazed at all, got stuck right in to their ribs & did big minutes too. JJ very impressive too.

Lunt & Grix did some outstanding 1 on 1 tackles! So did Luke George believe it or not. Jerry was a POWERHOUSE.

Larne's first try really took some scoring...the pies bashed him into the post but he wouldn't be beaten & still got the ball down. It was sheer determination more than anything else. His second was a peach...his pace, the step, the dip of the shoulder & the fact that he left Superboy Sam wrapped up in a tight little knot was the icing on the cake.

There wasn't a time in the whole 80 mins that Fartown looked like they weren't going to win this one. It was obvious that they were determined to a man to get the 2 points.

It was about attitude really.

And it was all the sweeter given the fact that Silverwood gave the pies every opportunity to get something from the game. He had a shocker.

I know it's only a start, but believe me, WHAT a start.

As far as Jacob Fairbanks goes, I rest my case. Fair play for Browny to play him.

Ditto Walker. Both really did themselves justice yesterday afternoon.

Don't know about anyone else who went yesterday but I'm still buzzing from it! The team was fantastic and so were the fans!
