So this has risen it's nasty head again and is now about slinging mud between the parties involved!

Seeing as theres no thread on this does this mean Giants fans aren't too bothered in it?

To me it seems Mr Hoyle has taken his bat and ball home just because Davy wants the rent fomula to be as it was in 1994! Mr Hoyle is happy for the Giants to have been paying far more per person than town! Is this really fair and in the true spirit on what the stadium was first dreamt up on??

I'm not totally clued up on all this and don't pretend to be, but I can see Mr Hoyle has done himself no favours in this stance!

Why should the Giants pay more when their overall share in the stadium will be half of that of Towns??? I think Davy should stick to his guns and not let the bully get his own way!!

I don't think Giants fans are uninterested, but they do very much trust Ken Davy and it is clear that KD is in a strong position here.

The KSDL sits with KDs version of events and it is difficult to understand why DH would make such an issue on principle. I can't help but wonder if DH wants to transfer the shares? Could it be the best Young Manager in England has spent all his money? Is it a diversion to sell Jordan Rhodes? Does DH want Town fans to use Canalside rather than the Galpharm for non matchday stuff?

Who knows, but Ken will see the Giants right.

You know your not half wrong there I had heard last season Hoyle was desperate for Clarke to get them promotion as he couldn't keep bankrolling them in the 3rd tier of football and also if that wasn't done Clarke would be out on his ear but the unbeaten run got in the way of that! Plus the team needs some more players in this transfer window and yet Hoyle has said theres no money to spend! But his personal wealth is not affected mind it's only what he's prepared to give! You don't throw good money at bad!

And I can just see the uproar if and when Rhodes is eventually sold it won't be Hoyle cashing in it'll be Davy's fault!!!

As HD1 is Davy's baby Canalside is Hoyle's so obviously he wants to make that profitable!

Of course Davy has a strong position he has a golden ticket Town need and should get at all costs for their short and long term future!

From what I've read about Town they are borrowing more and more money and getting into more and more debt. This could mean Hoyle is becoming more desperate to hold on to anything that favours them especially as automatic promotion is slipping away from them and the money that will bring. It would appear Hoyle has fallen into the trap most chairman of sports teams fall into and in the end we could see them drastically cutting costs or facing another administration or takeover etc... in a couple of seasons if promotion isn't achieved.

As for the share and formula issue I do trust that KD will protect Fartown as best he can and can't imagine for a second that he would let someone like Hoyle push him around.

Hoyle is a rank amateur compared to Sir Ken. His press release stinks of desperation. I trust KD fully with all things Fartown. He's got a proven track record. I think Matt01 is right....Hoyle's panicking.

I believe that a relation of mine was responsible for the start of the mud slinging between the two parties involved. This was back when KD first bought town out of administration. I politely told him to wind his bloody neck in, after he did some interviews with the Examiner and a couple of other press people in an attempt to poke a stick in the hornets nest..
He was trying to tell me that there were better offers tabled for town, of which I believe there was actually one.
From what I could gather, the only problem with this particular offer is that the long term plan had not been looked at in enough detail and the offer would not put the shared interests of the stadium users at the heart of it's plan. I couldn't put a percentage on how accurate this information was at the time, but that and the fact that the Giants were being operated as a fantastic business is why the administrators handed the sheriff's badge to Mr Davy.
I cannot understand for the life in me why town fans are getting involved. For goodness sake they have a team on the up, a superb stadium in which to play and probably a brighter future than many other teams in the same division.

I hope they are of the xmas card list Wink

Interesting though the Council have issued a statement that they've withdrawn financial support that they had been putting in! The statement does sort of back Hoyle in the way
Quote :
“We are very clear that the original concept for the stadium, with shared ownership and shared use for the clubs and the community through the Council, and with no one party having overall control, is the right one.

But then reiterate that Davy did get Town out of the mire
Quote :
The significant contribution Ken made in taking Town out of administration in 2003 needs to be widely recognised.

When Davy took over the reins of Huddersfield town the admin said they'd never seen such a sorry state and would be surprised they could recover even they'd given up! Contary to much believe from the mud slingers there wasn't another viable offer and it wasn't a case of Davy offering more to the taxman!! KSDL were also in a sorry state and Davy took the assets attached to the stadium from BOTH clubs into a holding company to safeguard them. Nothing illegal and all above board!! Any other person with business acumen would've done the same!! The only problem when Hoyle took over Davy's major shareholding of Huddersfield town the shares didn't automatically transfer and the same would apply if and when Davy sells the Giants to A other!

Now Hoyle has realised he needs those shares as Town loses money hand over fist, plus he needs the fans onside and those that are bothered want them out of Davy's moneygrabbing hands!!!

But to slander Davy as a money grabber is absolutely wrong, if he was indeed wanting to line his own pockets he'd put the rent up and ask a much higher price than the original £2 he paid plus £3 mil loan stock to enable him to clear Giants suposed debts!!

Sounds like the stadium got off with a lot by the sounds of that over so called other bid though!! And yet Davy's a devious crook??? Fickle one eyed cretins the lot of them!!!

Further to the tshirt protest isn't it coincidental that the colours of these tshirts are of a flourescent nature? Yes to stand out but before all this fall out over shares there was mention of a mass protest in front of these exact same sky cameras wearing flourescent clothing to highlight their feelings over the stewarding!

I really feel they are wrong in all of this! Demanding these shares be given back for the same price Davy paid is not how businesses work! I googled sold for £2 and found Comet has just been sold for £2 but to get that £2 they've had to promise the buyers £50mil and only stand to regain that £50mil if the company is then sold for profit of more than £70mil! So the purchaser can get a profit can't they yet the seller can't! Not in the same lines as Town in administration mind but still this is business ethics and how things work! Davy took the risk put his own money in and turned it around so should give himself a bonus for taking that risk and it was Hoyle who bought Town off him but not the stadium share and he's still entitled to some return on any financial input hes' put into the stadium while holding those 40 shares!!

They can protest all they want it's not going to get the shares transfered unless Hoyle returns to the table. Davy's told him the shares are available so I don't see Hoyle's problem! But at the end of the day it has nothing to do with anyone but the two businessmen it's down to them to sort this deal out and wearing tshirts and sounding off disrespectful libelous words is not going to help in the long run!!!

K Davy is nobodies fool, When you buy a failed business you buy I'ts depts and I'ts assets, you settle the debts to the best of your advantage and you use the assets to your best advantage as well. As far as i can see Mr Davy has invested money and gone from no involvement with anyone ,to owning the Giants and 60% of a brilliant stadium as well, That seems like a very smart move to me, I'm sure he will sort it out with Town at some point, Meanwhile he is the man holding all the cards, a few idiot supporters wont cause him many sleepless nights, I think he will have a bit too much wick in his lamp for them all, D Hoyle downwards.

I think you have the rights of it there Bo, whatsmore it only seems to be an issue for a few messageboard warriors, I haven't heard anyone talking about it, not at work, in the pub, on the bus or train or even at Cas last friday. I am pretty certain DH will pay Ken when it suits him to and Ken will get his interest.

Two rich men showing why they are rich, nothing more imo

The thing is these mssageboard warriors will be passing out these tshirts and most wont care or know the facts relating to why they are being asked to wear these tshirts but will do regardless so it will look like a success. Even if they are told of why they are wearing them it will only be one side of the story and without the relevant facts.

The matter is now going to be discussed in parliament by my own MP, again probably discussing the side of these minority ie big bad Davy without discussing Davy's side so how can it be a discussion with only one side of the events?

Can we really be confident this won't rattle Davy?? A so called concerned Giants supporter has written into the Examiner expressing his concern over the non return of the shares and how the Giants too have been robbed, but he does add that it was brought to his attention by a Town fan friend of his so again we can question if he's been told both sides!

But as you say it's a business transaction where both sides are trying to push each other for the best outcome for themselves regardless of how it affects the other side! And it should be left to them to sort it and no doubt once they shown their muscles it'll be sorted, and the actual amount not disclosed to all and sundry but both sides getting what they want!

I agree , It will get sorted and it will be the way you have said, The two men will be the only ones that know the true facts, It certainly will have nothing to do with a few Tee shirts.

Had a bit of fun on FB & Twitter about this today. It is abundantly clear that the footy fans don't know what the hell they are talking about....

Ken should keep them shares and rename the pharm, "THE GIANTS STADIUM"!!! Wink

In fairness to the Town fans, there are not too many taking part in this t-shirt protest, looks like a very small percentage of the crowd, haven't seen the Kilner Bank on TV, but certainly not a successful mass protest judging by the rest of the ground. It doesn'y surprise me as its probably the noisy out of town minority from Dewsbury, Wakey etc and some easily led kids.

Seems like Ken has got a fair bit of respect from the silent majority. Let him and Hoyle sort it out!

It was quite bizarre in all honesty! Folks saying that they were struggling to give them out, and there were 7500 to be handed out which was 3/4 of the attendance and they failed to do so many had hand fulls of them. One guy asked if he supported it he turned round I collect any shirts to do with town regardless what it means! It was mostly kids wearing them some even with parents refusing to wear them!! Another guy said he was cold!!! And there were loads left behind!!

Another funny thing was the queues for the food and drinks had many in the tshirts buying and yet if they went to the webpage on the tshirt it expresses a mass boycott of the food!
Hearing various musings it would seem many don't support this protest and don't want to be associated with it also heard a few other things that don't shed light on the negotiations but do say something else that could be important!

Btw I do have a lovely momento of tonight as I'm short on dusters!!!

And that just says it all for me. This protest has been based on misinformation and anti-Ken propaganda from the start and only a handful of benighted people have bought into it. Genuine Terriers want nothing to do with it and rightly so.

A complete dud of a protest led by a minority of individuals who have no real grasp of the facts at all.

It's a bit like when this small minority wanted Davy out many other decent town fans jeered at them saying they were pathetic even then and distanced themselves from the davy hate mob!
