| need to replace him at stand off, I have been half convinced of his quality on more than one occasion this season, It's been mostly in the first half of the season Surprise Surprise, and to be fair to him i have always thought that when your pack is going backwards it takes an exceptional player to impress, This has been the position he has been in for the last three months and it wont have been easy, All that said I dont think he is an exceptional player, but I rated him at centre in the games i saw him play there, He plays very well hitting the ball at pace, but doesn't have the speed off the mark for me . We need an exceptional player at stand off IMO, question is where to get one and is there money for one, If we are chasing players like Murphy ( who is OK but nothing special ) then It's unlikely to happen, If we are going to offload Raleigh and Kirmond which seems likely, on top of the one's who have already gone, we would surely be better off with a class So and Prop than loading up again with average squad players, " a system that IMO has been a failure this time"
Opinions anyone. | |

| Agree totally. keep saying we need a world class half back. I like Kev but he is not that player. | |

| If there is better available and can fit under the cap then fine, but I very much doubt there is. He is one of the better British stand offs and top quality NRL stand offs won't come cheap. He needs a pack who can get on top, when they are he is GB standard, when they are not he struggles just like most half backs. Sort the props out and we have one of the best 6, 7, 9 combos in SL IMO. | |

| He is certainly the best at our club Matt, and i agree with what you say about the forwards, But if we are going to keep chasing players like Murphy there never will be enough money for a world class SO. We have enough good players, we need some world class players, There are quite a few players leaving this time who have been judged to be not good enough to keep, why replace them with players of similar standard, Why not go for a bit mor quality and a bit less quantity. | |

| Take Brown out of stand off and where does the creativity come from. All our best moves go through him,he is our best pivot.Kev lacks that yard of pace, which is why I could see him going to LF in time and doing a job similar to O'Loughlin at Wigan. His defence is strong enough,no one takes liberties with him on that score.
There is a problem imo on the other (left hand side) of the ruck,I'll leave it up to others to decide where the problem lies.
Plus it's easy against the weaker sides to put the moves on but they have to have the confidence to do it against the top sides as that is when it really matters.
The way you get the best out of Brown is making sure the dummy runners are coming off him on the right lines,at the correct angles and with the correct timing. To me this is where we are falling down, this is the work that NB needs sort out if he wants to take us to the next level.

| Don't agree that our best moves go thru Brown, I get far more excited if Robbo, Brough or even Fuey are on the ball. | |

agree - many dont see the job that this sort of player does if hes not the flamboyant type. His job has been made 10x more difficult by the loss of impact from our forwards - clearly everyone has forgotton the first part of the season where he bossed the other sides about and looked top class.

They are good points that have been well covered, I have stressed over and over how difficult it is for halves when your pack is on the back foot, That is why i was making the point about needing an Exceptional player, someone who can turn a game when things are not going so well. That said it is not going to happen now , we are obviously going down the same route as last season, signing loads of players ( some who will be playing very few games, but still taking money) I am not and never have been against having a crop of youngsters , cause they are the future of the game, but far too many at Fartown are kept for a year or two and then moved on without being given a chance, McNally is a case in point for me, How come he could be a star in the NLs, Scoring points for fun, choose the Giants in the face of competition from other Super league clubs and yet be moved on as not being able to make the grade, For me he was never given the chance to make the grade, The games i saw him play he was as good as some of our so called stars, and he is just one case. However the running of the club is not up to the likes of me, But i know one thing now if we are going to be playing another season of rugby Chess, then i shall be elsewhere on a Sunday afternoon.
