| Taken from ww.giantsrl.com:
Huddersfield Giants have not offered contracts for the 2012 season to full back Gregg McNally and hooker Keal Carlile from the first team squad. McNally joined from Whitehaven in 2009 and has made one Super League appearance while Carlile who joined at the same time has made four appearances but has been sidelined since February this year as he overcomes injury. Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented:
"We thank the players for their efforts for the claret and gold and there is always a degree of sadness when players move on. In both instances the players need regular first team action to continue their development and we wish them every success. In terms of our squad we have two England hookers as well as a Kiwi international who played in that position at the weekend and both Grixy and Leroy cover full back for us. We also expect to announce further additions to the squad in the next few days."

| Time will prove if this was the right decision.
Keal reminded me a lot of when Lunt first broke into the team, but his unfortunate heart problems sidelined him and limited his first team chances. Greg only got the one opportunity and did seem fine, but its not like Nathan doesn't give young players a chance so there must have been something in Greg that Nathan worried about.
Still all the best to them both, hopefully the will get contracts elsewhere and then its up to them to prove releasing them was a mistake.

| Well we can't have things both ways, many of us have been calling for more quality and less squad players. These two were at the end of contracts and would have been squad players. I think Keel is the bigger loss but we have three international hookers. I believe Keel will go on to have a good super league career. Greg could too but has more to do imo, he also needs someone to take a punt on him, probably as a full back. Good luck to both, salary cap cuts rather than unwanted imo | |

| Really gutted for Keal as he was starting to make it onto first team before his heart probs. A shame Mcnally wasnt given a good go on the big stage but he mustn't have impressed in the U20's if Nathan is letting him go. Elliot Hodgson doesnt seem to be making the step up either. We seem to keep these lads to saisfy RFL rules rather than anything. This greg lad from Cas seems to be the replacement. | |

Personally cant condone signing a "promising player" -keeping him on the "sidelines" without a "fair" chance to show whether he can "hack it" /or not --and then making out he cant ! Have some conscience and let them play and progress as far as they can by playing regularly instead of losing 2 years of the relatively short period they get in the game .
