PostSubject: Bemused   Bemused EmptySat Aug 20, 2011 9:19 am

Really not sure where we are heading, I got back from holiday last week in time to see the Saints game on TV and frankly was a little worried that performance was seen as a step forward, however I gave the benefit of the doubt as Saints did get a couple of fortunate calls on the first two tries.

Last night I went to Salford and witnessed what I see as a lack of heart, that is simply not acceptable.

Not impressed with the petulance either, Fooey should have been sent off for kicking the ball at Child. Ganson, bentham or Silverwood would have sent him off - correctly. A small incident perhaps but one that sums up there is a big attitude problem in our team. A team capable of so much more.

I have renewed season tickets in support of club and Ken Davy. I feel strongly that the players and coaches could do more to support him.

I for one have the same feeling. For reasons I wont go into I havent been able to get to a game for a while although I have watched TV games and listened on radio when I can. I am disheartened at the way the season is going. We were up there fighting for top spot early on, we made a few slip ups and lost games we should have won, our attitude seems to have gone way off the boil and suddenly we are slip sliding down the table....

"On paper" the famous last words we should be putting in better performances than we are...we dont however play on paper and I am fed up of hearing the "we owe the fans a good performance"..."we will put things right" yadda yadda...dont just say it...MEAN IT!!!!!!!!!!! and more importantly DO IT!!!

We have a superb season ticket off for 2012....and yet again the team performances are letting down Ken and the club...if we were playing on form we would probably pick up many more newbies....if we continued to look like we arent bothered then why should anyone consider buying a ticket even at the magnificent prices being charged!!!!!

Seem to be more that agrees we going downhill fast than don't agree and the facts support this too.

A team like Leeds, who even their own fans would agree, have been rubbish all season have got to the Challenge Cup Final, the Giants on the other hand beaten by Cas a team worried they may not even get a SL licence.

Whatever the issue behind the scene then get rid, yesterday. I want to watch a succesful team, I want that team to be Huddersfield and another season like last year or the way this is panning out is not succesful enough for me or many others.

Best book a few more places on that break with you Giantdee

People on here can write i think what they want and thats ok ,but i know that the players dont think like you lot and they are the ones that are doing the hard yaka week in week out.if the players and coaches had the same mentality as the specys god knows where we would be,the sooner people realize that the boys arnt super human and that the oposition arnt just going to roll over the better.

Old School, it seems to me that most people posting on here are frustrated because they believe the players and coaches are capable of more, I certainly am.

I agree the Giants players are not superhuman, but neither are the opposition, particularly not Wakefield, Bradford, Salford and Crusaders all of whom are way off top eight but beat us. In the league alone We have also had no shows at Wigan, Warrington and lethargic performances away to both Castleford and Catalans.

Set aside the Wigan and Warrington away matches and you have six matches which a club who have been marketing themselves as Yorkshire's best and potential Grand Finalists should be aiming to win.

I accept that bad results and upsets do happen so we cannot expect to win all six, but given our squad and the clubs stated ambition and marketing, I believe a minimum of four wins from those six matches should have been achieved. Four wins is not an unreasonable expectation (these teams are all below us in the table and I would think other than Catalan all would have a lower cap spend than us this season).

I do not know what is causing the problem, but it is clear to anyone with an open mind that for the last two or three months our players are not confident or comfortable playing away from home. I believe Lee Gilmore suggested after the Cas defeat in the cup that the problem was all in the head. One way or another they need to get over that and believe in themselves.

You suggest Old School that it is good that players and coaches do not have the same mentality as posters, I would challenge that in regard to many of the posts that I have read. It appears to me that many posters share my mentality, which is to believe in the ability of the Giants players. That is why so many are frustrated. I further believe the players and coaches should be thinking like that, believing in themselves, if they do not it is their mentality that should be questioned not mine or other posters.

Finally, responsibility for player preparation and motivation must lie with the coaching staff, a great technical coach has a short shelf life if they cannot motivate the players. As well as technical knowledge they require to be a leader. There is more to being a leader than being a nice guy who the players like.

Nathan Brown has proven himself as a good coach, over the next month or so he has a chance to prove himself as a leader. I hope he does so.

I think Giantdee has summed it up very well.

There is time for the players and coaches to turn this season around, but they are running out fast. Get some decent performances in against Quins and Leeds and then get on a roll for the play-offs. We do have very talented and very hard working players, now is the time to play like their lives depend on it.

I agree , I can't find fault with any of Giantdee's post, And i don't think anyone has demanded superhuman feats from the players either They just want some sign that things can change back again, other than words like( we weren't good enough for long enough) When it's plain to see we haven't been good enough for the last 3 months.
But Matt is right we still have chance to sort things a bit, We have a very good record at home and we couldn't ask for a much easier team to play than Quins, which should set us up nicely for Leeds(who will have had a tough game at Wembley ) Not all is lost yet, But coach and players need to perform while they still have chance.

Hardly surprising, All the posters on here don't have the same mentality as each other, They all have their opinions and are trying to find answers for themselves as to what has gone wrong, There is nothing wrong with that It's what the forum is for, A lot of these opinions will differ but so what, I like to get other peoples views ( as long as they keep things civil I am happy )
At the end of the day we shall all be there as often as we can cheering and urging them on, That's what fans do, and then when things don't go right for long periods they come on Forums like this and Grumble about what needs doing to sort it, and those needs will differ according to different posters simply because they don't all share the same mentality.

People who come on here Like myself are just as quick to give the team and the coach praise when they get things right, I know you have played the Game to a very good standard, and it's easy to see and understand how you will take the players side in any discussion, But you surely must have learned that if there are 8,000 fans for a game, there will be close to 8,000 coaches amongst them, who can all see what is required, That's the nature and Mentality of Fans.

I can only urge you to post a bit more than the odd one liner, The more people post on here the better the discussions will get, At the moment It's pretty dead, If the team do really well at the weekend it will liven up no end, Lets hope for that.

Perhaps thats it then OS !

The mentality of most on here is to go all out to achieve success which many have waited far too long for !

I know that whilst not RL players -for whatever reasons - some on here who play different sports just cant stand losing -
and will go all out to win
I know that is a bad thing in the mind of some --but not me!

Sadly, in my mind there have been games where that approach has been decidedly lacking
(can name them if you want?)- and I arent being facetious !
But maybe you see it differently?
