Super Ken does it again. This chap really is the saviour of the giants. Cannot believe his commitment to this club, it is fantastic. Really hope the Hudds public respond this time, he really does deserve success.

It's persuaded me to invest again, I was really thinking of calling it a day, but i have a lot of respect for K Davy and what he has done for Fartown, The Grandson was also loosing interest as well, (they only want to watch winners at 8 years old ) But he's perked up after yesterday, so here we go again. Up the Giants Smile

Ken announced some very attractive season ticket prices for next season Scott, if you buy early.

Reidy

Donít know how you do this jiggery pokery Ėso here is jpg so you can post it
If you want it in another format let me know

I think that now weve got a "B" franchise rating KD is looking forward to the next outstanding criteria --an average 10k crowd!!

But like you I have doubts
Whilst I dont want o put a damper on it (and hes a shrewder businessman than me --this is more a perk for the faithful who will and have welcomed it

Personally the 10k will be more achievable if and when we didnt have to look back to 53 for a cup win and 62 for the championship
just MY opinion

and sadly its another year for one

Promotions like this , whilst commendable , would sell themselves with a trophy on the shelf
Ive said it before but at the risk of being shot...........................

Sport BECAME a business -part of the entertainment business
Like a good show in the West End
Cameron McIntosh is a shrewd buinessman as well and CAN and DOES pump millions into a production
But that show wont run long if the public dont like it and it doesnt entertain

Take away US FAITHFUL (who for the most part WILL renew anyway (Bo says now and again he wont but I know he will Wink )out of the equation

The club are facing a deficit on us although they will get some in "up front" but with interest rates as they are that wont rescue it

Similarly --he cant give newbies lesser prices than us -can he - thered be an uproar !! Neutral

So to break even --he has to get enough newbies to cover the assumed "shortfall".
And to get those newbies - in my opinion - he has to have a better product
Weve come pretty close in the Smith / Sharpe/ Brown eras to date --but it hasnt got us there

So to me ---some shinies for the marketing guys to focus on are needed
But if he does it "WITHOUT" --some sauce for my umbel pie would be appreciated !!

(Yeah --I know --go on miserable moaning giffer!!) Wink but thats my take on it (and thanks KD for your gesture to an OAP!!) Smile
Regards PG

adult tickets £50 for first 2000 for fantastic media stand and £99 for main stands if bought by 12th September. Then prices £210 for main stand. I agree that this is unlikely to generate 10k - the people in this area aren't interested- but it's a nice gesture for us that would be renewing anyway. Having said that I do know of three couples who don't have tickets at the mo cause they couldnt afford them (lost their jobs) but have said they will now definitely get them for next year. Even if we can up our season ticket sales to 7000 that should be a good boost. I think it would be useful to extend the deal a little longer so that they can push the £50 tickets in the schools come September.

We have got (I am led to believe) 3 years befoe next review of franchise) Jools

My view that it is KD`s aim to go foe that 10k figure by then

There are many aspects that could influence things --ie how well rivals do that may help us "convert" some on the fringes in Middlestown , Brighouse, Mirfield, Heckmondwike etc but my basic point is we really now NEED to kick on over that finishing line instead of being "nearly but not quites"!!!

I think some silverware would easily put 1500/2000 onto the season ticket sales for a start dont you?? Neutral

Yep I agree silverware is the thing that will tip the 10000, I wonder if extending the deadline would be a good option - i don't think we are quite ready to win anything just yet but a really good showing in the playoffs- I.e making the GF could easily put another 1k on the season ticket sales.

I agree with both the above posters, Silverware is the only thing that will make a significant difference to our crowds, We have to remember that we are in direct competition with soccer unlike many clubs, so taking that into account we are doing reasonable, but reasonable isn't good enough long term.

How long before we move to regular Friday night home games.I have talked to some folk who said they weren't gonna renew the ST's because of the inconvenience of Sky TV moving all these fixtures around.Clubs like Leeds,Wigan & Saints did the move to Friday partly due to this reason.Make no mistake if we are successful again next year, there will be the same changes to game days. The very generous £99 quidder from Sir Ken might make people be less concerned about the TV moves though.

Friday night football, good or bad move?

You only have to look at the empty reserved seats in the family stand at evening games to see that this might be a bad idea. Another thing is having fairly low crowds any away support is extra cash generated think there would be fewer away supporters on a Friday.

This is a big factor,if you notice when Sky TV cameras pan over to the supporters of clubs like Wigan,Warrington,Leeds & the Hull clubs on their travels it's largely youths of age group about 18 to 25 year old in attendance. We don't have that generation in the main,we tend to have the more mature BOF follower (such as myself) Which is why the club are targeting the kids with offers,as they know they will grow up following the Giants and in time grow to be a youth group like at the clubs I mentioned.

It's still tough on Sir Ken though because he doesn't get an extra penny when Sky TV shift our fixtures and in so doing drops the attendance.Sir Ken is suffering from the way the club was allowed to almost die due to lack of interest back in the 80's.

In time I could see us moving to regular Friday night's though. In some ways I wouldn't mind it,in other ways I'd be happy for it to stay Sunday.

Problem is if you move to Friday Nights you do not get the kids and women attending. I reckon it would need another 10 years before those kids who attend now are in the 16 to 25 age group who would be happy to switch to a friday night.

In the meantime moving all the games as has happened this year means that lots of the regular fans cannot attend games. 2 of our lot were not going to renew season tickets because they have missed so many games. My kids have hardly atended any games this year as it is often midnight when i get home after a game.

Great deal, Ken is fantastic. I was wavering about renewing, but now I will sign up at the next home game. I agree about extending the deadline to try and attract more new season ticket holders as well as grabbing the current ones. Maybe decide to extend to a week after the grand final. Then keep plugging on our run to Old Trafford. I hate Friday night games and that was a big reason in thinking about not renewing and just going to the Sunday afternoon games through the various deals about.

Marketing has to be positive, so they know we are going to be in the play-offs, this will attract more media exposure so more opportunities to plug this wonderful offer. The further we get the more media opportunities and the higher profile this offer will get. Just my opinion of course.

All that is fair comment Matt, Ken Davy is the one who has put his hand in his pocket, I'm sure he would have had a easier ride if he had chosen to go with Town rather than Fartown ( God bless Mrs Davy ) He has delivered big style, the question here is whether N Brown and the team can deliver anything in the playoff's, They showed early season what they are capable of but something has gone dreadfully wrong, They are not playing so badly on purpose, But try telling my 8 year old Grandson they are worth sticking with.

Far as i am concerned N Brown is the man to sort it, that's what he gets paid for, In his first year he was coach of the season, we were team of the season and we had Man of steel, This year he is performing more like J Sharp, and that is just not acceptable to me. Every team has their blips but they don't usually last for 3 months and include losing to all the bottom clubs, You have said yourself you were thinking of not renewing your ticket this time but have been persuaded by the great offer, same goes for me, Now it's down to N Brown and the team to show K Davy they are worth the effort.

My not renewing had nothing to do with performances on the pitch. Christ I had a season ticket when we used to lose to Highfield. It was more down to economics and convenience. I now take my family, they can not go to night games and then our family holiday means we miss others. When you take into account the number of cheap deals around for regular fixtures it wasn't going to make much difference if I had a season ticket or not.

No problem Bo. I am sure that the deal has been well thought through, but I personally don't get the logic of offering a fantastic discount, but then not push it for as long as possible. Why have a cut off of 12th September when newbies could be potentially attracted to the club if we make decent progress in the play-offs, yet they will be too late to take up this fantastic offer.
