I wasn't there, just wondering did Wakey work hard for a well deserved win - Or did we have the usual "we could beat you in our sleep" attitude?

Only listened to it on Radio Leeds, but it sounded like we didn't handle the conditions well at all.

Same old senario! We struggle to beat the poor teams ie Crusaders, Batley and now Wakey cos we think we're so good we only have to walk on the pitch to collect the points. When will they ever learn that no game can be taken for granted. A great chance to go top and our lads blew it big time.

They do it with alarming regularity, Maybe it's a mental thing. On Radio Leeds they sounded abysmal.

Scenario 2 I am afraid. Think we only completed 3 sets in the first half. Almost the first action was the Wakey try which came off a ridiculous bullet pass from Brown to Wardle, who was only about 2m away. In those conditions no way could it be caught and all this 10m from our own line.

Wakey tactics were interesting, they tried almost nothing and waited for us to mess up and we did. If John Kear could see that happening and expected it to the extent he set his gameplan that way why were we so surprised?

Quite simply that was the worst performance I have seen from the Giants in the 8 years since I moved here.

Yes conditions were poor, yes Alibert was, well Alibert, but quite simply we go in with the correct attitude we win that game easily.

Pass marks to Robbo, Eorl and well nobody else.

Anyone know why Griffen wasn't playing, if he was rested with LOD, Fa'alogo and Fooey out and Robbo backing up it is a disgrace. What is the point in keeping him fresh for Catalan if we lose to Wakey? We deliberately went out there without our most effective prop with another 3 of our first choice forwards out, why exactly did we do that?

Ponder this, if we had beaten Crusaders and Wakefield away we would be 4 points clear, how much confidence would that give us? How much fear would that put in others? How much latitude would that give to selectively rest players closer to the business end of the season.

This is the beauty of having such a big squad, Supposedly the best in Super league, and yet we continue to squander points against the lesser teams, So none of the top teams have managed a win, they have all had their players backing up, and two of them have managed a draw, We play one of the poorest teams in the league with a relatively fresh squad and can't do the business.
Makes you wonder a bit, hopefully It's just a bad day, maybe Brough is going to be missed badly despite the size of the squad.

I think we have to give Wakey credit here. They adapted to the conditions way better than us, and I think coach Brown showed some naivety we should have on the 3rd tackle put a kick in, muscled up in defence and played in their 20. Wakefield had better halfbacks than us. The number 35 had a great game, kicking us to pieces. He effectivly did a 'Brough' on us.
Was told at the game Griffin has had a fall out with Coach Brown

Just read Brown's comments:

Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown:"We didn't deserve to win. If we'd scored late, it would have been an injustice to 'Keary' and Wakefield. "We
had lots of players who didn't play who were genuinely injured. We put a
side out there today that, on talent, was better than the opposition
but the opposition wanted to win more than we did and they just played
much, much smarter. "The bonus of today is it's not going to be
too hard to pick next week's team. Normally you have sleepless nights
over who you're going to pick when everyone's fit but I won't have that
problem this week."

Yeah grudgingly Mad have to give Wakefield the credit. They were very solid on the fringes in defence. We never managed to punch any holes around the ruck, despite our best efforts, and when we shifted it wide their outside defence was up quick and seemed to be able to read our plays.Don't think we made one clean break all game through the forwards, which was frustrating.

Think the 35 was Richard Moore,he did kick very well to keep building the pressure against us.

Not sure who would be our motm in this one.

Have you noticed lately theres been no mention of injuries up to the match then it's only afterwards these injuries are mentioned! Is it mind games or is there something else?

Griffin apparently was having a rest to get over a few niggles! Lunt Too last week was resting to get over a few niggles even put on his twitter he was off for a week to Tenerife! Kevin Brown again nothing mentioned last week and even Baloo was trying to ush up prior to the game last week over his absence!! Is there something going on here?

Hated yesterday!! 20 to get soaked to the skin and the team didn't even show up!!! Ok the last 10 mins made it a little better but still had we grasped a last minute win we wouldn't have deserved it!!!! Both teams were poor but Wakey just played the conditions better! To say they've got prima donna attitude of just turning up for the points against "lesser" teams they simply should never have done that yesterday given the conditions!!!!

No way Wakefield could play dry weather football like we do,not in a month of Sundays. There is only 1 winner when the conditions are good.

We need to adapt to wet weather conditions better than what we have done.Twice now the weathers been grim and we've blobbed.Did NB send them out to put the ball through the hands in them conditions,it was totally the wrong plan, hindsight's a wonderful thing, but it seemed to be asking for trouble, and that's the way it panned out.

We can make up excuses for every game they loose, the truth is they were beaten by better sides on those days, just like Warrington were beaten by a better side at Salford, It happens to most teams, I'm not particularly bothered about them loosing, whoever the team as long as they look like they are doing their best, but every now and then they look as though they don't really give a s--- what happens, the game against Wakey seems to be one of them and it's hard to believe they are squandering points that may become vital at the end of the season, Hopefully Saturday they will have switched back on.

Agree Bo. People can blame the weather or whatever, the truth is there is a pattern emerging of an inability to get up for the 'easy' games.

The whole weather thing is garbage, these lads have grown up playing rugby in winter and so the bulk of their playing time will have been in poor or grim conditions. The fact is we were simply out enthused.

Again.

It's not about blaming the weather,it's about coming up with the right gameplan surely. It doesn't take a genius does it,in the old days when it was wet they said it's up the jumper today or in the forrards.Just shocked we wanted to chuck it wide in our own half in them conditions that led to Weakfields only try.

Our game this time has been about a very fast tempo, quick play the balls, plenty of options/runners around the ruck.Tying up the middle to create the space out wide. That kind of football is more suited to dry surfaces.

Either NB sent them out with the wrong gameplan last week,or they didn't stick to Nathan's wet weather gameplan.

Some games this year against the also rans it's obvious they have thought to themselves it's only a matter of time before our forward power wears them down, but the other teams have obviously fed off that and taken their chance. It's very true they could live to regret that attitude when they come away from Wigan,Warrington and St Helens.

For this who are we blaming, the coach or the players?

Ultimately the coach gets the blame, as is always the case, but i don't believe for a moment that he has tried to cultivate a dry weather only team any more than Kear has coached his team to be better equipped to play in the rain,
We have supposedly got the strongest squad in the league, we should be able to pick a side that can play in any weather, They are going to drop balls on days like that, all teams do, Pat Richards dropped one just running for the line, It sounded on Radio Leeds as if the poor weather affected their attitude a lot more than their ability.

One thing i don't understand is, for the first 8 or 10 weeks we were swapping players like kids swap marbles, Rotating it was called, and then we were told we now know our best 17. Well i wish somebody would tell me who they are cause I'm dammed if i know, I assume Faiumu and Fa-alogo are regarded as in the top squad and if so why where they not playing, are we paying top money to players who can't manage two games in three days, even though Robbo can, especially those who only play half a season anyway, Good job they wern't around 50 years ago, they would never have made it back down the pit on Monday morning or training Tuesday night.

If N Brown is doing his job right they will have a completely different attitude for this Saturday, and I'm sure they will but they will never get those two point back, I can't go so if anyone wants tickets for the east stand ,I have a concession and a junior going spare.
